Michele Botelho, a long-time resident of Danbury, announced that she is running for Congress in CT 05 in the 2026 election.

“With a passion for public service and a strong desire to make a positive impact on our community and country, I am committed to making this district and our country a better place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Botelho.

Botelho is a graduate of Northeastern University, earned a degree in Political Science and has worked in a number of public service agencies throughout her career. She is a wife, mother, caregiver and has extensive experience both in the public and private sector.

She’s worked in the public school system serving special needs children, served as an advocate for eldercare, owned and operated a business, and homeschooled her two children. She is currently helping to provide food and necessities to single mothers and families who live in Section 8 housing.

“There are people in this district who have been left behind, families that are being crushed by the cost of living and lack of upward mobility,” said Botelho. “I’m going to Congress to help fix it.”

In her campaign, Botelho will be focusing on affordability, the return of manufacturing jobs, and passage of a comprehensive immigration bill.
