Matthew Knickerbocker, the current Bethel Democrat Town Committee Chair and candidate for Town Treasurer, really hates Nazis.
And President Trump.
It's worth mentioning that Knickerbocker also served as First Selectman of Bethel from 2009 to 2022 and Wilton Town Administrator from 2022 to 2025.
Yesterday on Facebook he posted that: "The history of Nazis holding rallies in left-wing areas of Weimar Germany, instigating street fights, and then telling the press that only they could save Germany from the "violent communists" seems like an important thing for people to be studying right now."

On the same day, he warned that "political parties would one day divide America, turning citizens against each other while ambitious leaders used division to grab power."
And he suggested that is the reality we are living in right now, bringing up "tyranny" in the context of "debates on authority today."
On October 16th he shared a journalist's warning about Hitler -- that "It could happen anywhere."
He liked a "joke" post about "Antifa's manifesto" being the US Constitution so much that he shared it twice, and in another post he called Dwight D. Eisenhower the "The original ANTIFA leader."
Then he suggested that everyone buried at Arlington is also "ANTIFA".
Just a month ago, he posted a meme that said to "keep your foot on the gas" and offered ideas for how people could contribute to the on-going democrat "revolution" against a duly-elected President.
Knickerbocker not only hates Trump, but he questions those who do not agree with his assertion that Trump is "morally repugnant."
"How is it that so many Americans do not see this man as morally repugnant?" asked Knickerbocker on Facebook. "Setting aside, for now, the monumental damage he is doing to our economy and world standing, what does this say about the people who continue to support him?"
"MAGA is Nazism"... Trump is marching "step by step down the same road taken by Adolf Hitler"... and "yes, we do" have concentration camps in America, per Knickerbocker.
His page is absolutely littered with Trump-Hitler-Nazi propaganda.
And even a post highlighting "Hitler-Trump" similarities with a song clip playing in the background that says Donald Trump is "literally and actually Hitler."
He has apparently felt this way ever since Trump first ran for office.
So it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that his unhinged commentary has now climaxed into what feels like an actual call for violence -- to "swing your fist into their mouth" and "punch a Nazi in the face."
