President Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the largest deregulatory action in U.S. history today, ending the EPA's climate change power grab.
"In this final rule, EPA is saving American taxpayers over $1.3 trillion, eliminating both the Obama-era 2009 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Endangerment Finding and all subsequent federal GHG emission standards for all vehicles and engines of model years 2012 to 2027 and beyond," said the announcement from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. "The action also eliminates all off-cycle credits, including for the almost universally hated start-stop feature."
“The Endangerment Finding has been the source of 16 years of consumer choice restrictions and trillions of dollars in hidden costs for Americans,” said Administrator Zeldin. “Referred to by some as the ‘Holy Grail’ of the ‘climate change religion,’ the Endangerment Finding is now eliminated."
“This was all a scam, a giant scam,” said Trump. “This was a rip off of the country by Obama and Biden.”

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, Attorney General William Tong, and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes reacted poorly to the news.
“With today’s decision, the Trump administration has made it clear they do not care about the impacts greenhouse gas emissions have on the health of our communities, especially our children, seniors, and vulnerable populations," claimed Lamont. "This is settled science."
Lamont promised to fight the decision, as did his partner in lawfare, AG Tong.
“Over and over again, we see Donald Trump siding with Big Oil. He wants to sell out future generations of Americans for short-term profits for fossil fuel companies and the world’s biggest polluters," said Tong. "But we are going to stop him – the science and the law are firmly on our side."
Tong is confident his lawfare efforts will succeed.
“The evidence is even clearer now than it was in 2009, greenhouse gases pollute the air and contribute significantly to poor air quality. Connecticut suffers from some of the worst air quality in the United States, and greenhouse gas emissions, including from vehicles, contribute to air pollution that exacerbates respiratory illness, resulting in tens of millions of dollars spent on related healthcare costs in our state every year," said Dykes. "This reckless action puts us at greater risk for climate-related impacts, such as the dangerous and costly extreme weather events we’ve experienced in recent years, making Connecticut less safe.”
Note that thousands of scientists have agreed there is not a climate emergency.
"Global warming has not increased natural disasters," wrote Climate Intelligence. "There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent. However, there is ample evidence that CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly."
