Connecticut Reps Vote AGAINST Deporting Fraudsters Act

Yesterday, the House passed H.R. 1958, the Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026 (also called the Deporting Fraudsters Act) largely along party lines, 231 to 186, with 15 members not voting.

Nearly all Republicans (211) voted in favor of the bill, along with 20 Democrats.

The Deporting Fraudsters Act would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to make noncitizens (including undocumented immigrants) inadmissible to the U.S. and deportable if they are convicted of, admit to, or have committed certain fraud-related offenses, such as defrauding the U.S. government or unlawfully receiving public benefits (e.g., SNAP/food stamps, Social Security, or other federally funded programs).

Every single Representative from Connecticut—Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jahana Hayes, Jim Himes and John Larson—voted AGAINST the bill.
