On Tuesday the U.S. House passed a straightforward resolution condemning “socialism in all its forms,” including the Democratic Socialists of America, and reaffirming that American elections are for American citizens. The vote was 220-192.

Every single member of Connecticut’s congressional delegation voted no: Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jahana Hayes, Jim Himes, and John Larson.

None of them issued a statement as of the time of this writing explaining why they could not bring themselves to denounce an ideology responsible for more than 100 million deaths or the DSA platform that includes noncitizen voting, abolishing the Senate, and open borders. They simply voted with the overwhelming majority of House Democrats against the measure.

Eight Democrats from other states found the courage to vote yes. Connecticut’s five did not.

The resolution was non-binding. It required no new spending and changed no law. It simply asked members of Congress to state the obvious: socialism has been a catastrophe wherever it has been tried, and its American advocates should not be normalized.

Connecticut voters now have a clear record heading into November. Their representatives would not even say the words.
