Senator Chris Murphy Calls OIG Report On Trump DOJ "Positively Orwellian", Then Slams Trump's New Appointees As "Stooges"

The fear that Trump will be targeting "political enemies" in his next term is palpable, as evidenced by Sen. Chris Murphy's appearance on MSNBC last night.

"Today's report from the Inspector General showed just how far Donald Trump's last administration went in targeting his perceived enemies, and with his picks for his next Administration, Donald Trump is assembling a whole new crew of people willing to do whatever he wants," says All In guest host Ayman Mohyeldin before he brings on Murphy.

Here are the key findings in the OIG report:

Mohyeldin starts off by asking Murphy to react to the OIG report about, ironically, the "blatant weaponization of the Justice Department" under Trump in his first term.

"It's an extraordinary story," says Murphy. "It's positively Orwellian."

Murphy goes on to paint a scary picture of "how far" Trump is willing to go "to target his political enemies" pretending as if the years of lawfare against Trump under Biden's DOJ wasn't real.

"Since then, he has made no secret of the fact that, if he's elected, which he was, he is going to view his political opposition as the number one threat to the nation's security," says Murphy before gaslighting listeners, saying those who oppose Trump--the people responsible for our wide open borders--are not a threat to the security of this country.

"And now having installed a whole bunch of stooges in the Department of Justice and FBI, I think you're likely to see a lot more of this really over-the-top targeting of his political enemies," complains Murphy.

"What do you anticipate a more emboldened, a more aggrieved Trump might do? Are there any preparations in place to prevent something like this from happening," wonders Mohyeldin.

Murphy's response shows he's scared that Trump's FBI pick, Kash Patel, will go after 2020 election fraud.

"If you didn't try to rig the election for Donald Trump, you may soon be investigated by the FBI and perhaps prosecuted by the Department of Justice," fears Murphy. "That's how serious this could be."

Prosecuting those who committed election fraud in 2020 would be music to MAGA's ears.

But for Murphy, it's "a really scary moment" so he promises to MSNBC's dwindling audience, "we have the power to fight back against Kash Patel's nomination, to fight back against Pam Bondi's nomination."

The conversation turned to the confirmation of Pete Hegseth, whom Mohyeldin brands "a liar."

Murphy, a frequent guest on the political talk show circuit, says with disgust that Trump is picking "TV people" and "showmen" for his cabinet and that the "acts you see" on TV cannot be trusted.

"The bigger problem with Hegseth is the extraordinary list of abuses against women, with alcohol. You combine that with a complete lack of experience in running a bureaucracy this big, combined with backwards views about women in combat, about the role of muslims in society," says Murphy who is rather adept at pushing the democrat party narrative.

Murphy goes on to use one of the left's favorite insults, calling Hegseth a misogynist, before he panics that Trump has "control over every single Republican Senator and Congressman."

Of course, this is what MAGA wants -- republicans to line up together, all unified behind Trump, implementing the Trump / MAGA agenda.

And MAGA would also like to see some accountability for those who have, in fact, committed crimes.
