Southbury Public Library has announced it will be holding a panel discussion with transgender author and gender-affirming care therapist, Jillian Celentano, along with a panel of transgender and gender diverse teens, on September 19, 2023, from 6:30pm - 8pm. This program is meant for parents, neighbors, educators, friends, and anyone eager to learn about what it's like to be transgender and/or gender diverse, to hear stories, and also learn about "trans health care." This is the second time that Celentano is appearing at Southbury, having previously spoken at the library in June 2022.

The flyer fails to mention the fact that "trans health care" involves the administration of chemical castration drugs to teens who think they can delay puberty until they "decide" what gender they want to be, along with cross-sex hormones and gruesome surgeries to remove the healthy genitalia of gender dysphoric teens. These experimental surgeries leave visible scars, and turn people into lifelong customers of Big Pharma. Thousands of children have already undergone gender transition surgery in the US.

Celentano, who wrote "Transitioning Later In Life - A Personal Guide", began transitioning from a biological male in 2016 at the age of 55, and subsequently received a BA in psychology and a master’s in social work at age 61. In addition to having a private practice in Greenwich offering gender-affirming care, Celentano also serves a Community Liaison for the Yale Pediatric Gender Program, an advocate for the transgender community, a mentor for trans youth, and has organized support groups for transgender children and young adults.

Celentano's "TransAwareness101.com" blog reveals appearances at more than 100 events, focusing on the topics of trans awareness and support. This includes over 30 events just at libraries in Connecticut, including the Perrot Library in Old Greenwich on June 21, 2023. Celentano has also spoken at churches, universities, medical schools, hospitals, psychiatric centers, the Veterans Administration, professional associations (e.g, psychologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists), and Pride groups.

A number of public schools, including Greenwich, Milford and Old Saybrook, have also hosted Celentano for speaking engagements.

Celetano is also an advocate for transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice, and has complained about "inexperienced and uneducated lawmakers and leaders" who want to pass "unfair laws against the transgender population, simply because of their own irrational beliefs."

In fact, Celentano actually claimed in a 2021 article that, "to my knowledge— at least here in the USA—there have been no reported cases of a transgender person assaulting or attacking anyone in a bathroom. On the other hand, there are many reports of transgender people being attacked and severely injured in bathrooms."

Of course, a simple google search proves this claim wrong.

The Centinal reached out to the Southbury Library for comment.

An employee who declined to offer her name tried to position the event as an educational talk to let people hear stories about what it's like to be transgender. When it was pointed out that the talk also included "trans health care", the library employee became flustered, nervous, and immediately passed off the call to the Administrator's voicemail. We will update this article if we receive a statement from the Administrator.
