Closing arguments in the Stormy Daniels trial are underway today. Outside the New York Supreme Court, a different drama is unfolding. Joe Biden's campaign team have decided to pull a stunt involving actor Robert DeNiro and former Washington Metropolitan police officers Michael Fanone and Harry Dunn of J6 fame/infamy.
Perhaps improv isn't his strong suit. In jumbled fragments leading up to his prepared remarks, DeNiro complained about Trump and his followers. "I mean this is really, even these people over here are kinda..." he said, gesturing toward the pro-Trump crowd. During the brief pause, a bystander loudly yelled, "F*** y**!"
DeNiro pushed on. "It's kinda crazy, it's really crazy...Donald Trump has created this, he should be telling them not to do this...he wants to sow total chaos...Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city, but the country, and eventually, he could destroy the world...he doesn't belong in my city."
In the background, the crowd chanted "Let's go Brandon!...F*** Joe Biden!"
After DeNiro continued, "...now, [Trump] is promising to use our own military to attack US citizens. That's the tyrant he's telling us he'll be...he will never leave...Do we want him saying, 'I'm dictator for life'?"
At this point, someone's car alarm started honking, but DeNiro gamely continued, seeking to introduce Fanone, but a bystander interrupted DeNiro, saying that Fanone lied under oath during J6 hearings. "They lied under oath," he said calmly. "Who lied under oath?" DeNiro asked incredulously. "Those two traitors behind you," the man said, gesturing to Fanone and Dunn. "I don't even know how to deal with you," fumed DeNiro.
"Ashli Babbitt was murdered, an unarmed veteran," said a bystander in the interlude between Fanone and Dunn.
Dunn, the most composed of the Biden campaign speakers, continued to spread unfounded fear. "He constantly echoes the words of dictators and invokes the language of Nazi Germany, embracing political violence."
Shortly after the Biden campaign speakers wrapped up, Jason Miller, representing the Trump campaign, spoke to reporters. "Why is Joe Biden now making this a campaign event after months of weaponizing the legal system against Trump? Because Joe Biden's numbers are in the tank. The headline for today in Politico was, 'Dems in Freakout Over Joe Biden"...the best Biden can do is roll out a washed-up actor."
