The US Supreme Court invalidated race-based admissions under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.

Yiatin Chu, NYC public school parent and President and Cofounder of Asian Wave Alliance said, "The Supreme Court’s ruling to end affirmative action should be celebrated by everyone. The United States is a country of limitless opportunities and equal protection, and treating students equally regardless of race is a fundamental right that the court has now returned to us. Students should be evaluated on their talents, accomplishments and potential, not penalized for a checkbox on race in their college applications."

Of course, the SCOTUS ruling was not viewed as a win by US Rep Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) who ironically viewed the decision as a roadblock toward racial justice. Even though the decision ended decades of discriminative college admissions policies that "suppressed hundreds of thousands of Asian youths' pursuit of the American dream," according to Donghui Zang, President of the New York City Residents Alliance.

DeLauro reassured followers of her commitment to "promoting diversity throughout our education system to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to learn and thrive" but perhaps not for Asian students, in light of her disappointment over the SCOTUS ruling to stop discriminating against them in the admissions process.
