U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) seems to be awfully worried after Joe Biden's performance during the debate last night.
"After last night’s debate, I’m more panicked than ever at Trump’s agenda," said Murphy who went on to release a video on X "explaining Trump’s detailed plan - Project 2025 - to destroy democracy, criminalize abortion, and target and harass gay and transgender people.
Just to clarify, Project 2025 is not "Trump's plan" but instead is the effort of a broad coalition of conservative organizations led by the Heritage Foundation.
"This is a 900 page plus document prepared by Donald Trump's team, his loyalists, and it is a blueprint to end American democracy and impose some of the cruelest, most right-wing policies of this country during Donald Trump's second term," warned a tense Murphy.
Murphy then goes on to cite three of what he deems are "the most disturbing elements" of the Heritage Foundation-led group's plan.
Murphy's first concern is that Trump will undertake a massive firing of civil servants who will be replaced by "Trump and MAGA loyalists".
The reality is that Trump announced a ten-point plan to "dismantle the deep state and reclaim our democracy from Washington corruption" that includes, for instance, firing all of the corrupt actors in the National Security and Intelligence apparatus.
Murphy's second claim is that Trump will "eviscerate" abortion around the country.
Of course, anyone watching last night's debate heard what Trump said about abortion. He said he supported "exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother," and he further said he thought those exceptions were "very important".
The third "disturbing element", according to Murphy, is a "vicious attack" on transgender people.
What's the vicious attack?
Well, Trump has vowed to protect women by keeping men out of women’s sports.
At the end of the video, Murphy spews a laundry list of things -- alleging that Trump has plans to "roll back environmental protections, destroy worker's rights, to eviscerate civil rights protections, and to predictably give more handouts to big corporations and billionaires."
That same sense of panic is echoed in the Democrat's "war room" statement on the Heritage Foundation-led group's recommendations.
Curiously, the responses critical of Murphy's video on X seemed to be hidden as "probable spam" so perhaps Elon still has some house-cleaning to do.
