Black Lives Matter (BLM) has drawn sharp criticism after multiple chapters issued statements standing in solidarity with Hamas terrorists in the aftermath of the horrific attacks on Israel over the weekend.
BLM Grassroots said, "we must stand unwaveringly on the side of the oppressed" before it justified the brutal assault as "a desperate act of self-defense". The statement continued, "we, too, understand what it means to be surveilled, dehumanized, property seized, families separated, our people criminalized and slaughtered with impunity, locked up in droves, and when we resist they call us terrorists."
The official Chicago chapter of Black Lives Matter released a graphic of a Hamas paraglider with the text: "I stand with Palestine" to mock how Hamas militants allegedly used paragliders and hang gliders to launch an armed massacre of innocent civilians near the Israel/Gaza border.
Not to be outdone by BLM Grassroots and Chicago, BLM Indy retweeted an anti-Semitic post that praised the "heroic Palestinian people” and their “right to resist their racist, white supremacist, land-stealing [Z]ionist occupiers!” Of course, Hamas is not “resisting” Israeli aggression, rather it launched the gruesome attacks near the Israel / Gaza border by surprise on unsuspecting concert-goers, grandparents, mothers, fathers, young children and even babies.
The inflammatory and anti-Semitic statements came just days after BLM members appeared with Antifa during the ‘All Out For Palestine’ protest in Times Square on October 8th where protestors were chanting: “There is only one solution, Intifada revolution!” “Resistance is justified, when people are colonized!”
This is not the first time that BLM has lined up with Hamas.
A group that included Black Lives Matter members and leaders of the Ferguson uprising that took place after the fatal shooting of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson embarked a 10-day trip to Palestine in 2015 so they could deepen their connections with Palestinian 'activists'.
Even Patrisse Cullors, the co-founder of Black Lives Matter, personally helped organize a "solidarity demonstration" in Nazareth as part of the group visit to the troubled region so they could "witness firsthand the effects of Israeli apartheid and occupation" and learn about those "actively resisting on the front lines." Like Hamas.
There are even drawings of George Floyd on the Palestinian side of the West Bank Barrier Wall to show solidarity between BLM and Palestine.
Clearly the relationship is strong.
Just like the cozy relationship between Black Lives Matter and Democrats, especially those who protected BLM during the "summer of love" protests that resulted in excess of a billion dollars in damages. Even the Greenwich DTC said in June 2020 that, "Black Lives Matter is no longer a debatable assertion, but rather an undeniable truth in everyone’s mind."
Who could ever forget how the press willingly supported the BLM narrative by calling the riots in the wake of George Floyd, which cost insurers more than any other violent demonstrations in recent history, "mostly peaceful"?
Local Greenwich columnist Alma Rutgers backed the narrative too, after she said the death of George Floyd "sparked a national awakening to the meaning of Black Lives Matter" and even suggested that "Greenwich Police Department and Black Lives Matter signs belong together." A tone-deaf and laughable statement in light of BLM’s stated goal of defunding the police.
Greenwich Voices for Democracy and Greenwich Indivisible members have also publicly backed BLM.
But now that BLM is guilty of issuing repugnant, anti-Semitic hate speech, will Greenwich Democrats, the local media and the grassroots groups including Voices for Democracy and Indivisible finally find the courage to denounce and condemn the Black Lives Matter organization once and for all?
