The University of Connecticut student activists known as "UCommune" recently launched a petition because they believe they are being targeted for their "righteous activism, protest, and speech in defense of Palestinian life."

All these comrades want is "justice" for Palestinians whom they believe have been "indiscriminately murdered, during the ongoing colonization of their homeland" by Israel.

The student activists think public universities should be "spaces of free expression" where the "right to protest" (and to build tent encampments) is fully respected. They feel that UConn is letting them down in this regard, and cite a statement from the President of the American Association of University Professors, Dr. Irene Mulvey, in support of their views.

Mulvey was also upset about the crackdown on student protestors across the nation, and claimed that "university presidents have failed in their duty to protect the autonomy of academic and intellectual life from outside interference."

She further said that, "by asserting that peaceful protesters are 'trespassing,' the administration gives credence to controversial definitions of antisemitism that are, as the AAUP cautioned in 2022, overly expansive and a threat to academic freedom. Peaceful campus protests should never be met with censorship and jail time."

The UCommune comrades asked friends, professors and other community members to sign a petition in support of the on-going occupation of the UConn campus. Nearly 850 people have already signed the petition, including more than a hundred college and university educators, including 90 from UConn, along with a handful from Yale, Trinity College, University of Pennsylvania, Brown University and several others.

At least 16 educators listed English or "Literatures, Cultures, and Languages" as their field of expertise. Another 11 listed History, 10 came from the Sociology Department and 9 indicated they were in the school of Education. At least two professors were tied to Ibram X. Kendi's controversial Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University. The remainder where scattered throughout a wide range of departments.

You can read the whole list below.

Yet despite the petition, UConn Campus Police, along with police officers from multiple precincts outside the school, entered the UCommune encampment yesterday, much to the disappointment of the budding activists who called it a "brutal crackdown".

Mind you, this is the same group of activists that welcomed praise from a pro-Hamas news channel last week.

The police removed tents, arrested 25 protestors and allegedly held them for up to 10 hours before releasing them. UCommune promised to support those arrested. Additionally, the radicals at BLM 860 in Hartford posted a fundraising link to raise money for the activists' legal fees.

The protestors called the arrests a "display of repressive force" and believe the arrests offer some sort of proof that UConn is connected to "the war industry which profits off the mass death of Palestinians."

The activists plan on continuing their occupation, and have planned for a gathering tonight, May 1st, at 6pm.

After spewing so much hatred for their own university, one has to wonder why they all don't just transfer somewhere else.
