President Joe Biden’s entrenched refusal to give Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Secret Service Protection since his first request - now up to six requests - which have been repeatedly denied, and not to give former President Donald Trump more Secret Service detail for the last week, which the Trump campaign has requested proves that Biden will do anything to win, including putting his political rivals at risk during these turbulent times.
After Saturday’s attempted assassination on Trump, there should be no wiggle room to step up to the plate and demand that Joe Biden and his irresponsible administration just do the right thing. And, let’s lay the blame where the buck stops. On Joe Biden’s desk.
President Joe Biden flanked by Vice-President Kamala Harris and U.S. Attorney Merrick Garland gave a brief statement from the White House early Sunday afternoon.
He reiterated the obvious.
Violence has no place….Unity is the goal of all.
The president had just left a private briefing from all the alphabet soup agencies from FBI to Homeland Security to DOJ.
He said what the world already knew.
“We know the shooter, but no motive is known at this time.”
Biden claimed that the Trump campaign has “already received heightened” protection. That progress.
The Commander-n-Chief has ordered the Secret Service to review the security for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where demonstrators are expected to show up, and he has ordered an independent review of Saturday’s rally.
The president stated he is to address the nation later tonight from the Oval Office.
What about Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Mr. President?
Why can you not do the right thing and do your job and provide Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. with Secret Service Protection following an attempted assassination on former President Donald Trump less than 24 hours ago?
In the meantime, President Donald Trump has authorized a GoFundMe account for donations to the supporters and families wounded or killed in Saturday’s “brutal and horrific assassination attempt. All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover. May God bless and unite our nation,” reads his statement.
UFC CEO Dana White, Credit Glory CEO Alex Brola, Kid Rock have each contributed $50,000; Vivek Ramaswamy has donated $30,000; and Bill Ackman and Ivanka Trump and her husband have each donated $10,000.
As this goes to print, over 30,000 donations have been made for a total of more than $2,300,000.
Pennsylvania Governor Jose Shapiro announced Sunday that Corey Comperatore, 50, a former firefighter died at the Trump rally on Saturday. He was an avid supporter of Donald Trump’s. He attended the rally with his wife and two daughters and dove over them when the gunshots were heard in the crowd.
"Corey died a hero," Shapiro said.
Shapiro described Comperatore as a "girl dad,” who went to church every Sunday and loved his family and community.
"Corey was the very best of us, may his memory be a blessing," Shapiro said.
Two other Pennsylvania residents were also shot at the rally and both are in critical condition, Shapiro said.
"Last night was shocking for this community and for this commonwealth, and I know, for this country," Shapiro said. "Political disagreements can never, ever be addressed through violence. Disagreements are OK, but we need to use a peaceful political process to settle those differences."
