The Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Campus Antisemitism Report Card has been developed as a tool for students, parents, counselors and other stakeholders to better understand the current state of antisemitism on colleges campuses and to learn how particular universities and colleges are responding.
The Report Card is currently in beta version, and just 85 schools have been reviewed thus far.
Two Connecticut universities were featured on the report card — the University of Hartford and Yale University — and according to ADL, there's room for improvement.
The University of Hartford, which received a "C", was cited for lacking both a Rabbi/Jewish educator and an advisory council for addressing antisemitism. However, the University has seen a very low rate of incidents overall. The most recent antisemitic harassment incident allegedly took place in October 2023.
The state of affairs at Yale, which is sporting a "D", is quite a bit different. ADL cites a number of recent incidents that contributed to what has been labeled a "deficient approach" taken by Yale, including:
Yale has pledged to incorporate new educational programming on antisemitism into its training curriculum, and announced it would fund security costs for the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life and support provision of kosher meals.
Only two universities received an "A" on the ADL's antisemitism tool — Brandeis University and Elon University.
