“You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.” - Leviticus 19:11
Our politics are more contentious today than ever. One root cause of this animosity is the significant differences in priorities. What if both parties could agree on the same top priority? Could the political parties then begin to cooperate to make the country better for everyone? What if they evaluated the key issues in the context of Christianity? Let’s explore this strategy to see if it can reduce the animosity.
There are 2.3 million registered voters in Connecticut. Approximately 64% self-identify as Christian (79% of registered republicans and 54% of Democrats self-identify as Christian). What if all Christians in the state (Democrats and Republicans) made their Christian faith a top priority when evaluating political policy and candidates?
If both sides could agree protecting their Christian faith was a top priority, wouldn’t this be an opportunity to minimize the anger and conflict? Wouldn’t this help us to elect politicians who support policies that protect the Christian faith and not attack it?
The Anti-Christian Issues
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless works of darkness; rather, expose them” - (Ephesians 5:11)
The Family and Our Children
The family is the foundation of society and is considered the key unit for a valuable Christian life. According to Christian philosophy, children need a two-parent family to learn how to love others and to form the foundation for success in life. Any attack on the family or children is an attack on the Christian faith.
And yet, there are pornographic books in children’s libraries while protesting parents are being ignored. Connecticut is promoting legislation that provides gender affirming care treatment for school children while avoiding parents from being informed. (United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit , 2023) Connecticut has done nothing to stop boys from competing in girls’ sports even after President Trump issued an executive order upholding the integrity of Title IX.
According to Pope Francis, gender ideology and pornography are attacks on the infinite dignity of humans and on the family. Subsidiarity (one of four principles in Catholic Social Teaching) teaches that the large institutions (State and Federal governments) should NOT take on responsibilities that can be performed at the local level. Protecting the rights of parents to make decisions for their children is consistent with Subsidiarity and Catholic Social teaching. Can’t all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) agree on the protection of the family and children?
Abortion
According to recent surveys, more people support pro-choice (54%) than pro-life (41%). These views center around having freedom to make a personal choice. Connecticut legislators are currently considering a bill (Senate Bill 7) that would force Catholic hospital staff to perform an abortion in violation of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Services and in contradiction to their Christian faith.
What if all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) could agree to protect this freedom of choice for hospital staff and protect the Christian faith?
Fiscal Discipline
“Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.” – Proverbs 10:2
The Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) mission is to eliminate waste in government spending and improve fiscal responsibility. DOGE. is identifying and eliminating waste and fraud (wickedness). Even so, Attorney General Tong is suing President Trump and the Secretary of Treasury to block DOGE’s efforts.
Why can’t all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) agree to support the removal of government waste and abuse (wickedness)?
Public Safety
“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:8
President Trump, to keep his deportation promises, invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. This Act enables Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) to immediately remove the worst of the worst criminal illegals including the gruesome gang called Ten De Aragua from El Salvador. This gang has committed many horrific crimes.
A sanctuary state will either limit or block cooperation with I.C.E. officials. Connecticut, along with twelve other states, is a sanctuary state. The main responsibility of government is to protect citizens from harm and to establish law and order. (US History: American Government) Allowing criminals into our country and preventing their removal, puts all citizens at risk. The Supremacy Clause in our Constitution establishes that federal law takes precedence over any conflicting state or local law. Sanctuary states that block efforts to remove these criminals are breaking the law.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called the children of God.” – Matthew 5:9 Shouldn’t all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) support actions to make our communities safe?
Senator Chris Murphy and Representative Rosa DeLauro
Senator Murphy thinks “it’s no big deal” if men who identify as females participate in women’s sports. Recently he, and all Senate Democrats, blocked the resolution “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The Vatican’s Declaration (“Human Dignity”) states that the most beautiful and foundational difference between men and women is a gift from God and must not be denied.
Both science and faith affirm there are only two sexes and isn’t that something all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) can support? Can’t all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) acknowledge that even one male competing against a woman in sports is wrong?
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” - Exodus 19:18
Senator Murphy also objects to DOGE actions. He claims, “it’s a threat to Democracy”. This is a lie. DOGE’s mission is to remove waste and fraud so our taxes can be redeployed to worthy causes. How could avoiding “bearing false witness” be a threat to Democracy? Why can’t all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) who profess their faith agree on the importance of identifying and removing fraud?
“A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.” – Proverbs 11:1
Representative DeLauro also agrees with Senator Murphy’s stance on these issues. She too objects to DOGE activity and lies about Elon Musk’s responsibility and methods. She makes false claims about DOGE activity.
Can’t all Christians (Democrats and Republicans) agree on the importance of treating taxpayer money respectfully and efficiently?
Summary
As Christians, can we agree:
· The family and children must be protected?
· Lies and fraud by our government must be stopped?
· Men competing in women’s sports is inconsistent with our faith unfair?
· The faith of Christian doctors and nurses must be protected?
If all Christians can agree that protection of their faith is a top priority, wouldn’t this avoid electing anti-Christian candidates who propose anti-Christian policies?

It may be argued that many, if not most of the challenges we face in Western culture are at the core, sexual in nature. Whether by indoctrination or infantilism, many (even “Christians”) think the verboten an unfair bondage, to be summarily dismissed.
The Left has consolidated all of the complainants/marginalized/oppressed/ deviant into a political block, to be wielded against the hierarchy.
The true Christian element that you summon is their bane.
Identify as Christian… sure.
