Connecticut Senate Democrats called the Supreme Court decision that protected the freedom of speech in 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis "homophobic" and further alleged that the case was based on a an entirely false and fabricated story.
With 13.8K followers on their twitter account, you'd think the CT Dems would have found some support for their tweet. But that was not the case. They got absolutely trounced in the comments as hating freedom of speech, hating freedom of religion and acting like communists.
The article the CT Dems referenced was written by Melissa Gira Grant, who is a staff writer at The New Republic and the author of Playing the Whore: The Work of Sex Work. The book is based on Grant's "ten years of writing and reporting on the sex trade, and grounded in her experience as an organizer, advocate, and former sex worker."
"Playing the Whore" argues that separating sex work from the “legitimate” economy only harms those who perform sexual labor. Grant says that sex workers’ demands have been too long relegated to the margins, and should actually take center stage because "sex work is work, and sex workers’ rights are human rights."
Interesting author for the CT Dems to highlight in their tweet.
Makes you wonder if the dems also share the view that "sex work is work", doesn't it?
