Senate Republican Leader Pro Tempore Henri Martin and Chief Deputy Republican Senate Leader Eric Berthel wrote to Connecticut Attorney General Willam Tong yesterday to share concerns expressed by Rev. Jacob W. Dell, Pastor of The First Congregational Church of Woodbury.

The letter comes after a video exposed a Connecticut pastor helping gender confused minors access chest binders -- actions that one mother alleged are tied to her daughter's suicide.

Rev. Dell has since been calling for an investigation into licentiousness in churches and for accountability under Connecticut's Constitution.

The State Senators asked Tong whether he felt the issue is worthy of an investigation.

Rev. Dell has not only been calling out churches that have strayed from their original mission, he's pointing the finger at institutions that train future ministers, like Yale Divinity School, for straying from the original purpose of training biblically faithful ministers.

"Yale Divinity School’s curriculum often prioritizes social justice over biblical exegesis, a shift that would likely dismay its benefactors," wrote tell in an Op Ed in the Hartford Courant. "This theological drift pervades mainline Protestant denominations, seminaries, and churches, many now endorsing positions—like same-sex-marriage or critical-race-theory endorsements—that contradict their founders’ convictions."

Connecticut Centinal / CDM founder L Todd Wood recently had an opportunity to catch up with Rev. Dell to talk about what brought him to the point where he felt it necessary to seek accountability for law-breaking churches under Connecticut's Constitution.

In the interview Rev. Dell also explores whether churches that violate Christian beliefs might be violating their trusts, endowments and/or other assets (e.g., buildings, property) that have been bequeathed to churches with the expectation that churches would uphold Christian beliefs and values.

It's a fascinating conversation, and worth a listen.
