Stratford Mayor David Chess held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Stratford's new transgender pride crosswalk that was recently installed in front of Stratford High School.

"We painted the rainbow crosswalk on King Street, connecting our two Stratford High School campuses," boasted Mayor Chess on Facebook. "The rainbow crosswalk serves as a reminder that Stratford is a community that deeply values every person, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, and knows that diversity is our greatest strength."

The transgender pride crosswalk was vandalized twice within days and subsequently repaired before the ribbon cutting on Thursday.

Mayor Chess made it clear at the ceremony that he's inclusive of everyone in the community, no matter what their color, gender or preferences are — even if your preferences happen to include certain kinks and fetishes.

He also made it clear he plans on pursuing charges against the sidewalk vandals.

"There are always going to be haters, there are always going to be people out there who feel they have to be negative," Mayor Chess said. "I don’t know why their hearts are closed, but that’s where they are."

Perhaps their hearts might be closed because of valid concerns over seeing a member of the Connecticut leather community marching right next to two small children at the ribbon cutting ceremony?

Mr. CT Leather is an annual contest that "celebrates leather, kink, fetishes, and unconventional sex – all consensual and practiced in all kinds of sexual orientation relationships," according to the Hartford Courant. The contest has been sponsored by state- and local-funded organizations like the New Haven Pride Center.

Both Democrat Mayor Chess and Stratford Board of Education Vice Chair Michael Fiorello, who is also a teacher and longtime CEA/Stratford Education Association union member, took a moment for a photo op with Mr. Connecticut Leather 2026, Ricky Mestre.

It's not like Trump-hating Mestre is an unknown quantity to Mayor Chess.

Before Mestre was Mr. CT Leather, he was featured on billboards up and down the I-95 corridor during covid, including one just a few exits from Stratford.

Plus Mayor Chess has used the services of Mestre's employer: Conversations with Mayor David Chess is hosted by Sound View Community Media Inc, the same outfit behind Mestre's own productions.

If your child is curious about "Mr. CT Leather" after attending the Stratford transgender crosswalk ribbon cutting and decides to Google "Mr. CT Leather," they’ll get quite an education — and we're not talking about the organization's BDSM seminars!

One of the foremost expectations is that during their respective title year, Mr. CT Leather will conduct themselves as a positive role model for the BDSM community, and that means making plenty of public appearances.

Mestre, seems to enjoy a kink known as puppy pride, so he acts as a positive role model for the "pup" community. Sometimes that means he's a pup himself. Other times it means putting on a show for Connecticut Pets and Handlers (CTPAH) night at the club, or even turning out to pride festivals and marches.

If that purple stripper pole looks familiar to Centinal readers, it's because it's from the Norwalk 2026 Pride in the Park festival where children were taught how to grind on a stripper pole, thanks to "Work It Fit," a Norwalk business that offers Pole Dancing, Seductive Dancing and Fitness Classes.

Child-friendly fun, right?

At this point you might be wondering to yourself, "why would Mayor Chess think a photo op with Mr. CT Leather was a good idea?"

Well, Mayor Chess is frustrated with this current moment in history. He thinks there are just too many haters and extremists out there on "both sides of the spectrum" — at least that's what he said in his since-deleted July 4th Facebook post.

As far as Mayor Chess is concerned, it seems, BDSM / pup play enthusiasts who share their kink at public events with children are not extremists — but Trump and his supporters are, which has prompted Chess to turn out to his local "No Kings" protests.

It should come as a surprise to nobody that Chess has solid backing from democrat party progressives. He's been endorsed by Chris Murphy, and supported in door knocking efforts by Rosa DeLauro. Plus he's also a doctor, which means he can be leveraged to push the democrat's vaccine agenda. And he’s the first democrat to serve as Mayor of Stratford since James Miron left office in 2009.
