ICE Issues Detainer For Illegal Alien Charged In Stabbing Death Of UMass Dartmouth Freshman Football Player

Marvins Antoine was 18. A freshman running back at UMass Dartmouth and a Durfee High School standout from the Fall River–Boston area, he had just started his college football career and had not yet taken a varsity snap for the Corsairs. Hours after Friday night’s home game against Framingham State, he was out with teammates in Providence. By 12:30 a.m. Saturday, he was dying in a Wendy’s parking lot from a knife wound to his chest.

Antoine was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. His teammate, Kensley Macean, 19, a freshman defensive back from Dighton, was slashed in the head and neck but survived.

The man charged with murder is 19-year-old Chukwunonso David Uzoma-Eze (also spelled Chukuwnonso Uzoma-eze or Chukuwnonoso Uzoma Eze in court and police reports), another UMass Dartmouth student. He was arrested on campus, pleaded not guilty to a fugitive from justice charge during his arraignment on Monday, waived extradition, and is being held without bail pending his transfer to Rhode Island.

That is the official story.

What official briefings have omitted is the background of the defendant.

The Connecticut Centinal received the following statement from an ICE spokesperson:

“ICE Boston lodged a detainer request Sept. 22 with Bristol County House of Correction for Chukwunonso David Uzoma Eze, a criminal illegal alien from Nigeria, following his arrest for murder.

“Uzoma Eze entered the United States legally in 2015, however he violated the terms of his lawful admission.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S. ICE is working diligently to remove these violent, dangerous offenders from our communities.”

Police and university officials have not disclosed his immigration status, presumably due to Massachusetts' PROTECT Act, which limits state and local cooperation with federal civil immigration enforcement.
