A little over a decade ago, Kimberly Fletcher realized that many women who valued their families, their faith, and America, were not voting. So, she set out to change that.

“In 2014, we realized what a lot of candidates already knew – that the vast majority of women of faith were not voting, and that most weren’t even registered to vote,” explained Fletcher, the founder and president of Moms for America. “So, we started a program back then – just a three-page PDF download that was focused on how you actually vote.”

During an exclusive interview with Lumen-News, Fletcher recalled that, at that time, the moms in her organization who were gathering in their cottage meetings discovered that half the room had not been voting and, actually, did not know how to vote.

“They had no idea what a precinct is, how do you register, where you go and vote,” she recalled.

But, in 2020, many mothers became concerned about gender ideology and the COVID mandates in their children’s schools.

“They were like, ‘No, no, no, we don’t want that!’” she said. “And, so, we were telling moms, ‘Listen, you can put up a stop sign to all this stuff coming your way simply by going out and voting.’”

“So, in that year, we put out a series of videos, and our whole entire call to action was to say, ‘Listen, your vote is your voice or your values,” Fletcher said. “If you aren’t voting, your voice isn’t heard. Your values aren’t represented, and you’re going to get more of this stuff that you do not want. And, so, they did, and they came out en masse.”

“Over the course of all this time, as we reached out to moms, it turns out 2020 was really just a big favor from God for us because it shone the light on all the evil, and you couldn’t hide from it anymore,” she observed. “And moms who thought, ‘Well, it’s not happening in my school or not in my classroom,’ suddenly realized it’s everywhere when they saw what their children were being taught. And we have teachers who call us and say, ‘This is awful. I can’t do this without being made to do it, and kids are being bullied by adults in the system.’”

In 2024, Fletcher said they expanded the “mom vote campaign” that ultimately resulted in the women’s vote surging “off the charts.”

“The difference wasn’t the liberal women because they were already voting for unions, teachers unions, all this kind of stuff,” she said. “Now, this was moms with traditional values, women of faith, who flooded to the polls to make sure that they pushed back on all of this.”

As her organization prepared for the 2026 midterm elections, Fletcher said leaders reflected on the dramatic change from the Biden era, when parents and Christians “had the FBI banging down their door,” to the second Trump administration:

We don’t remember how awful it was because it’s been so good for two years – though not great. We’re still fighting the same battles on the local level, but we have an advocate in the White House instead of an adversary. We have an administration that’s standing on those principles and values that protect families and made America the freest, most prosperous nation on earth. And, so, we wanted to remind moms, what America do you want to live in? And, so, we started this massive messaging campaign.

As the 250th anniversary of America’s independence approached, Fletcher said the organization realized many younger moms in America who were educated in public schools had “no idea what America is about or why it’s worth fighting for.”

She reached out to her friend – award-winning actor Jon Voight – with whom she ultimately co-wrote Our American Story, a theatrical experience of cinematic storytelling and live musical performances that brings to life America’s story of 250 years.

The film, which also features actors Kelsey Grammer, Kirk Cameron, and Gary Sinise, premiered on Constitution Day, September 17, in Dallas, Texas.

Asked whether, as Democrats have succumbed to socialist and Marxist influences, moms who identify as Democrats are rejecting those radical policies in 2026, Fletcher instantly responded, “You’ve gotta focus on the kids.”

“That’s all we focus on. We don’t focus on anything but those moms,” she said. “That those moms get their kids out, they get their husbands to vote, and largely vote their way.”

“I cannot tell you how many, in the last three, four years, how many moms have come to us and said, ‘You know, I voted Democrat my whole entire life, and I’m voting Republican. I don’t want any of this stuff coming after my kids,’” Fletcher noted. “And, regardless of where you stand, I mean, it’s not about whether or not you want to marry a tree or sleep with a bird. It’s about leave the kids alone. I’m the parent, and I’ll decide. You don’t get to decide for me what is in the best interest of my child.”

Fletcher reflected on the significance of this election for American mothers:

The most important thing is that we, as mothers, understand how powerful our influence is, and how critical it is that we help our children understand why America is so unique, and counter all the lies that they’re being fed with the exceptional truth that they need to know. That is the most significant thing that we can do. It’s the most patriotic thing that we can do as mothers. We need to understand what America is about ourselves, share that love of liberty with our children, and then vote our values.

“If we do those things, we will sustain the republic for generations,” she said. “If we do not, we don’t have much longer to live.”
