Library watchdog Dan Kleinman has just launched the much-needed World Library Association (WLA) to compete with the Marxist-led American Library Association (ALA), which has come under fire most recently for a potential First Amendment violation over its attempt to silence Brave Books, while at the same time promoting highly sexualized "Drag Queen Story Hours" at public libraries across the country.
Kleinman has spent the last 25 years as an advocate for libraries.
He said that the ALA has for decades worked towards a goal that has nothing to do with communities, but everything to do with the organization's own progressive, and now Marxist-driven political agenda. For instance, over 50 years ago, the ALA added the innocent-sounding word "age" to its Library Bill of Rights. The impact of that simple one-word addition paved the way for the pornography you currently find on children's library bookshelves today, all because the library doesn't want to discriminate against people on the basis of age!
Kleinman said he started the WLA for three reasons: to better educate the public about the existing issues with libraries, to bring together a group of people to address these issues, and to assist in legal situations because, as it turns out, the ALA is raising millions from the likes of Jay-Z to the Mellon Foundation, all to sue parents who challenge pornography for children.
Until now, the ALA has enjoyed having no competition, so it literally does whatever it wants, even launching a "banned books tour" to promote sexually-explicit content to children and holding regular "Banned Books Week" events all across the country (the next one is scheduled October 1-7, 2023). It even has "sneakily" instructed librarians on how to promote drag queen story hours in small, rural, conservative communities.
The ALA is aware that many of the frequently-challenged books are, in fact, sexually inappropriate for children, but they knowingly "reframe" the argument as being about "diversity and inclusion" which is often the same justification used for putting divisive content into school curriculum and social emotional learning classes.
Bottom line, if you want to effect change at your local library or at your school library, you need to get on the Board and effect change through policy. The good news is the WLA will gladly help guide you on how to implement good library policies.
