What has State Representative Moira Rader done for Guilford lately?
On Saturday April 5th, I attended the “Hands Off” rally on the Guilford Green which was part of a nationwide protest to oppose President Trump, Elon Musk, and their plans to cut government waste, fraud and abuse. Sponsors of this protest included “Move On”, “Indivisible”, “Planned Parenthood”, and the “Communist Party USA”.
One of the main speakers at this protest was Guilford State Representative Moira Rader.
Moira’s comments centered on President Trump’s plans to dismantle the Federal Department of Education and enforce anti-discrimination laws regarding Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in education through executive orders which will defund public schools which refuse to cease their DEI policies. Moira labeled these plans “unconstitutional” and “threats“ to public education. Moira even led the crowd in chants shouting, “Hands Off Education”.
In her February Newsletter, Moira said, “I want to start with an honest and empathetic message to those of you feeling overwhelmed by the actions taking place on the federal level. There are a lot of reasons to feel uneasy and fearful of the chaos that is playing out on a daily cycle at the hands of the current administration … we in the legislature have the ability to put strong legislation in place here in Connecticut … to combat concerning executive orders, and communicate with our congressional leaders to advocate for their swift action to fight the many unconstitutional executive orders.”
What then do Guilford citizens think about their State Representative speaking at a protest sponsored by “Move On” and the “Communist Party USA?” Do Guilford citizens approve of Representative Rader’s stated intention to “combat” President Trump’s executive orders regarding DEI? Will Guilford Public Schools lose federal funds if Moira is successful in passing State legislation to ignore these executive orders?

This is a lesson in using Propaganda 101 to twist language and meaning beautifully. The term "Hands off our schools" was particularly interesting. I think all those comments can be rephrased with one sentence. Hands off our Communist Takeover.
