L Todd Wood speaks with Avelo Airlines CEO Andrew Levy on the acquisition of new aircraft, and the company's purpose which has been focusing on secondary airports in typically larger metropolitan areas to offer a convenient, affordable alternative to crowder and more congested airports.
"People love what we're doing and we've seen a lot of success," Levy said, excited about their future prospects.
Levy indicated that the on-going protest efforts by a largely disgruntled group of aging boomers in Connecticut has had little impact operations.
He also called out Connecticut politicians for relaying false information, like Avelo had some sort of special tax benefit in Connecticut for jet fuel, which it didn't or that it was getting special subsidies or doing something otherwise "illegal" in operating flights for ICE.
Levy's big announcement today is that the company is making a purchase of up to 100 Embraer jets that accommodate about 140 passengers -- a phenomenal product for customers, but a game changer for Avelo.
