    Well that was quick!

Joe Biden said he was dropping out of the race at 1:46pm on National Ice Cream Day, Sunday, July 21st.

Then, a mere two and a half hours later, on a Sunday no less, Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo, a Republican, issued a statement about Biden's withdrawal which was published by the Greenwich Sentinel.

"Biden’s decision, though sudden, was not entirely unexpected. In recent months, concerns about his health have been mounting. The physical and mental toll of the presidency, coupled with the demands of a rigorous reelection campaign, appeared increasingly daunting," per the Greenwich Sentinel article.

The Greenwich Sentinel said Camillo’s remarks "encapsulate a sentiment that has been whispered in political circles." The sentiment being that Biden didn't have a choice. His condition was obviously declining. And it is "tragic that those closest to him allowed this to continue for so long.”

“Whatever their final ticket looks like, I hope that the debate this fall focuses on things that matter most to the American people: securing the border, correcting policies that contributed to inflation that reached a 41-year high during this administration, and getting away from identity politics and instead focusing on economic opportunity, energy independence, and common sense solutions that do not divide the nation," said Camillo.

“We are Americans who have political differences, but at the end of the day, we are still neighbors, friends, and colleagues. During the course of debate, that needs to be remembered,” said Camillo... a mighty rich statement coming from a politician who attacked MAGA Republicans for being "extremists" during the most recent municipal election and mocked the previous Greenwich Republican party leadership, calling them "cowardly" and "delusional" instead of working with them.

While it took Camillo mere hours on a Sunday afternoon to coordinate a statement about Biden's withdrawal, it took him days to respond to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump on Saturday, July 13th, at 6:11pm.

In fact, Camillo didn't issue a statement until after we called him out on the morning of July 15th... then by late afternoon, he finally put a statement on Facebook, then Twitter and of course in his preferred local newspaper, The Greenwich Sentinel.

“Any attempt to disrupt the political process with violence must be condemned in the strongest terms," wrote Camillo. "What happened on Saturday is not the first time we have witnessed this in our country, but it must be the beginning of the end of acceptance of it as just part of public life."

He then urged, "let us get back to focusing on issues and offering solutions and different perspectives, not attacking individuals and groups of people."

Again, this is a really rich statement coming from a guy who absolutely refused to work with his own party when it was lead by the "red hats" whom he personally despised. Not only refused to work with them, but refused to consider different perspectives, and instead attacked these individuals and groups of people like Greenwich Patriots. Exactly the opposite of what he’s preaching now.

"The Town of Greenwich prays for all those who were affected by Saturday’s tragedy. We especially keep the family of Corey Comperatore and former President Donald Trump in our prayers. May God grant them strength and unbreakable faith in the days ahead," wrote Camillo.

Camillo went on to say that, "reckless language, accusations, and conspiracy theories contribute to an environment of hate, which sadly finds fertile ground on social media sites."

An environment of hate? Perhaps this is just a gentle reminder about his Thought Police committee?

How do you tell your constituents that you care more about what happens to the Democrat party's presidential candidate than the Republican Party's candidate?

    Oh wait...
