Connecticut State Rep. Matt Blumenthal posted the above picture of himself and State Rep. Savet Constantine (on his left) hanging out with a group of activists, including some now familiar faces from Indivisible Stamford, at the "50501" protest in Norwalk on April 19th.
One of the people in the picture, who was holding a homemade sign that said "F*CK ICE - Fight Ignorance - Not Immigrants", looks very much like a former one-term member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting ("RTM"), the town's legislative body, from District 5 in Riverside.
The RTM is meant to be an apolitical organization, but that didn't stop Hale McSharry from letting his comrades know he was running for the RTM to represent a political party he financially supports, the Democratic Socialists of America ("DSA"), by including a "socialist rose" emblem on his campaign posts on social media.
Not only is McSharry a proud DSA member and a Bernie Bro, he's also a member of the progressive New York Working Families Party, which currently has some rather interesting candidate surveys for 2025 that include a link to help candidates on "race-class messaging" because "economic and racial justice are core progressive priorities."
In Connecticut, the WFP used its 2024 candidate survey to advocate for things "immigrant justice" and "trans rights" too, including:
McSharry is also linked to the Stamford and Greenwich chapters of the national Indivisible organization, one of the groups behind the many anti-Trump and anti-Elon protests of 2025, and to Greenwich Voices for Democracy, which was started in 2020 to oppose "Trumpism and right-wing extremism."
That "F*ck ICE" poster looks more and more like it's just a continuation of a theme, a number of years in the making, doesn't it?
Speaking of a theme, McSharry said the issue of police accountability was very important to him while he was on the RTM.
He said the only “surefire way” to reduce alleged "police violence" would be to limit police contact with the community and redirect police funding towards social services, which is why he opposed body cameras for Greenwich police officers, for instance.
“As evidenced by the number of horrifying videos of police violence caught on camera, such as the murder of George Floyd and the shooting of Jacob Blake, I do not believe that being on camera effectively stops police from committing violence,” McSharry said in Sept 2020.
Now that we're on the topics of George Floyd and "defunding the police" -- one of they key pillars of the Black Lives Matter messaging -- it's worth remembering that McSharry was all about the BLM movement, and using George Floyd's death (which was most likely from a drug overdose) to help fuel the never-ending struggle against "systemic racism".
Coincidentally, in addition to serving a term on the Greenwich RTM, McSharry had also been appointed to the First Selectman's Diversity Advisory Committee ("FSDAC") in February 2019, an especially convenient and well-timed appointment for a budding socialist activist and political organizer like McSharry.
By December 2019, the FSDAC was working to schedule a program called "The Rise of White Nationalism", to develop a social justice program for the latter half of 2020, to develop an immigration guide, and more.
The FSDAC was even looking for a speaker who could frame a "conversation around structural racism and the redistribution of wealth or socioeconomic diversity and acceptance and gear it towards the school or student populations."
McSharry was also on the FSDAC when the news about George Floyd broke and when the "fed-surrection" took place -- oh to be a fly on the wall during those meetings!
We're sorry we missed that meeting when the FSDAC reflected on the YWCA's statement about "how white nationalism and insurrection are intertwined"... and how to "create a community lexicon" in order to "authentically and clearly talk about such challenging issues" as diversity, equity and inclusion.
We're also sorry to have missed that Diversity Training Indoctrination Session from Erin Crosby, who was the Director of Women’s Empowerment & Racial Justice at the time. It sounded like a barrel of fun.
But we're not sorry about seeing an alleged MS-13 gang member, wife beater and human trafficker who was on the Transnational Organized Crime Watchlist getting deported to his own country.
And unlike McSharry, who is certainly not a fan of Greenwich Patriots, we want to thank ICE for doing the difficult and dangerous job of removing the criminal illegals and dangerous gang members who have flooded into the country, especially through Biden's wide-open borders.
