Citizens on both sides of the political aisle are extremely dissatisfied with the federal government; perhaps because government today is not functioning as our Founders envisioned.
Today members of Congress are making lucrative careers of what was meant to be short stints of “public service”. Today our national debt is fast approaching 40 trillion, and politicians in Washington DC routinely overstep the Constitution’s enumerated powers.
Thankfully, the Founders knew the federal government could one day abuse its power, so they provided the second clause of Article V of the U.S. Constitution allowing states to call a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution.
Convention of States, a grassroots organization, is advancing a resolution that would call a convention to propose amendments in three subject areas: term limits, fiscal responsibility, and federal overreach.
Article V states that two-thirds (34) state legislatures must adopt the same resolution before a convention is called. Proposed amendments must then be ratified by three-fourths (38) states.
So far, 20 states have passed the COSA resolution.
If you are tired of politics as usual, join the nearly 3 million Americans that have signed the COS petition by visiting www.conventionofstates.com.
In addition, while we are a non-partisan organization, we have an open letter to President Trump asking him to support our initiative. Please visit www.conventionofstates.com/trump to add your name to this letter.
This is the solution that is big enough to solve these problems! Join Us! Let’s make 2026 a banner year for a return to government “of the people, by the people, for the people”!
