Indivisible Greenwich is following marching orders from their national leaders, holding a coordinated action "honoring the innocent lives lost to ICE" on July 23 at 6:30pm in front of the Havemeyer Building on Greenwich Avenue.

They'll be lighting candles, holding hands, and demanding "change" for deaths in ICE custody — while apparently having zero interest in the preventable American deaths caused by people who shouldn't have been here in the first place.

"This madness has to stop," they say. Funny how that only applies one way.

Progressive groups all across the country have poured out performative grief for illegal immigrants (actually or allegedly) harmed during enforcement, but continue to remain silent about American victims of illegal immigrant crime.

No vigils. No hand-stacking photos. No "all are welcome" inclusivity for the heartbroken families left behind. Just silence, or worse, deflection about "root causes" and "comprehensive reform."

Far too many innocent Americans have been killed by illegal immigrants, for example:

• Laken Riley, 22 – Nursing student jogger murdered, beaten and asphyxiated on a University of Georgia trail in 2024 by Venezuelan illegal José Antonio Ibarra (released into the U.S. after illegal entry).
• Rachel Morin, 37 – Mother of five raped and bludgeoned to death on a Maryland trail in 2023 by Salvadoran illegal Victor Martinez-Hernandez (prior murder suspect in El Salvador, entered illegally multiple times).
• Jocelyn Nungaray, 12 – Strangled and dumped in a Houston creek in 2024 by two Venezuelan illegals recently released after illegal border crossings.
• Kate Steinle, 32 – Shot on a San Francisco pier in 2015 by a five-time deported Mexican illegal.
• Mollie Tibbetts, 20 – University of Iowa student murdered while jogging in 2018 by an illegal immigrant.
• Kayla Hamilton, 20 – Autistic woman raped, tied up, and strangled in Maryland in 2022.
• Ruby Garcia, 25 – Killed during a carjacking in Michigan in 2024 by a previously deported Mexican illegal.
• Aiden Clark, 11 – Killed in a school bus crash by a Haitian illegal in Ohio.
• Katie Abraham, 20 – Killed by an illegal in a drunk driving hit and run crash in 2025.
• Anya Varfolomeeva, 19, and Nicholay Osokin, 19 – Killed by a drunk, drugged illegal driving nearly 100 mph.

And that doesn't include the countless DUI fatalities, gang killings, and others tracked by groups like ALIPAC (Americans for Legal Immigration PAC), which has identified some 1,400 Americans killed by illegal immigrants as of February 18, 2026.

This isn't about compassion.

Every life lost in custody deserves scrutiny, but pretending illegal immigrant crime isn't a crisis, or that enforcement of federal immigration laws is the real villain requires ignoring mountains of data, and thousands of grieving families and friends.

If Indivisible really cared about "innocent lives" and "stopping the madness," they'd hold vigils for the Americans killed by illegal immigrants, too.

Until then, the selective outrage speaks for itself.
