  • Your Priorities Reveal Your Wisdom Or Lack Thereof

    “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” – Matthew 6:24

    I am in the middle of moving from Connecticut to Florida. Moving is one of the most stressful experiences in life. Is it fair to say, identifying and acting on the most important priority actions helps to reduce or even eliminate stress during a move? Isn’t it true identifying and acting on the most important priorities is an effective strategy that helps in every difficult life situation? This strategy is based on the Pareto Principle or the 80/20 rule. In this principle 80% of stress can be minimized or avoided by identifying and acting on the 20% most important priorities.  By using the Pareto Principle, my priorities during the move minimized the stress.

    In either an organization, family or as an individual, it’s wise to choose priorities consistent with universal principles and/or objective truths. This strategy helps make sound decisions. Universal principles apply to all people, cultures, places, and times regardless of individual opinions, customs, or circumstances. Failing this causes excess stress.

    “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” – Deuteronomy 6:5

    The Political Left and Political Right often have very different priorities because they embrace very different principles. Can someone please help me? I am having great difficulty identifying the principles upon which the Political Left embraces abortion up to birth or gender ideology.

    As a conservative, I can explain my positions on opposing abortion and opposing gender ideology. I can identify the universal principles. Can someone on the Political Left please identify their principles that form the foundation for their positions on these topics? If not, please explain how can the Left can continue to support their positions?

    Abortion and Objective Truth

    The Massachusetts Senate on August 7th, 2026, approved a bill that allows abortions up until birth even on healthy unborn babies. Governor Healey, an abortion advocate and a Catholic, has signed it into law. What is the Political Left’s priority with this legislation? It’s clearly not the life of the baby. Is it the optimal flexibility, health and/or convenience of the mother? What universal objective truth or principle is embraced here?

    When opposing abortion, the priority for Political Right is the life of the baby. The guiding principle is the embrace of the dignity of every life as described in the Bible, the Pope, and Our Declaration of Independence.

    The Vatican and the Holy See makes this clear:

    “Every human person possesses an infinite dignity, inalienably grounded in his or her very being, which prevails in and beyond every circumstance, state, or situation the person may ever encounter. This principle, which is fully recognizable even by reason alone, underlies the primacy of the human person and the protection of human rights.” 

    Our Declaration of Independence expresses this principle.

    “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

    What principle justifies abortion up until birth (even for a healthy baby)? And what is the stated priority for such legislation? Is the principle that the fetus is not human until birth? Is it that the woman has power over her own body? But isn’t the baby a unique DNA and therefore a different body? Doesn’t the Declaration of Independence declare everyone (all men) has the inalienable right to life and isn’t each life identified by their unique DNA? Doesn’t the sixth commandment (“Thou shall not kill”) prevent us from taking that unique life? What principle on the Political Left justifies taking that life? Can someone on the Left please explain?

    WNBA and Objective Truth - “What is a Woman?”

    The WNBA has the word “Woman” in its name and yet they cannot agree on a definition.  For the Political Right, a woman is an adult human female. This definition affirms the objective truth that there are only two sexes and therefore only two genders. With this definition the objective truth becomes obvious i.e. that men who feel like women (transgender women) are still really men and that will never change (biology).

    To help clarify the Political Left’s position, I asked ChatGPT “Is a transgender woman really a man?” Here is its answer:

    It depends on what you mean by “man.”

    • transgender woman is someone who was typically assigned male at birth, but who identifies and lives as a woman.
    • In discussions about gender identity, transgender women are generally regarded as women.

    Is gender really assigned at birth or is it created at conception? The Political Left appears to use twisted or in complete definitions, confusion and contradictory language as tools to justify their positions instead of objective truth and universal principles.

    Another example is the definition of “gender identity”. It is a social/psychological condition not a biological or objective truth. Can a man identifying as a woman be a woman? A yes answer contradicts both biological objective truth and the Bible.

    “So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”- Genesis 1:27

    What can be an example of the principle the Political Left wants everyone to accept? Is this it?

    “…if someone identifies as a gender that contradicts their biological sex, they can become that gender and therefore can generally be regarded as that opposite sex.”

    In other words, for the Left, an emotional, subjective, psychological condition can override objective biological truth. Clearly the emotional and psychological phenomenon of gender dysphoria can be experienced as objective truth for the person who is suffering from it. But their personal experience does not make it a universal truth. Their mental illness is not credible enough to force others to deny objective biological truth.

    Summary

    People reveal their priorities either in what they say or what they do. When they do, ask them, “what universal principle supports that priority?” If it’s not a universal truth (Biblical or biological), is it just their opinion? Challenge them to clarify.

    Whether one is moving to a new state or deciding how to support women, using wisdom to choose priorities that are based on universal principles will optimize results and avoid stress.

    With more time and effort in this post, I could have asked the same questions about the Political Left’s recent support for socialism. Which universal principle supports Socialism, a philosophy which has been shown to fail every time it’s tried? Perhaps you can ask your Politically Left friends that question too.
