The Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced that 16 individuals – in locations throughout the country – have been charged with election crimes that include “illegal voting” and “fraudulent voter registration.”

“The cases include voting by aliens in federal elections, false claims of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote or to vote, voting on behalf [of] the deceased, voting multiple times in the same election, false statements on citizenship applications, and unlawful procurement of citizenship,” the DOJ said Monday in a press statement.

Though many of those charged are “lawful permanent residents,” they are not U.S. citizens and, therefore, not eligible to vote in federal elections.

    The cases include:

Patrick Perea, 62, who was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of fraudulent voting by attempting to use his deceased wife’s absentee ballot to vote in New Mexico in the November 2024 general election.

Four individuals in Pennsylvania who were charged with voting by an alien during the 2024 election:

    • Hacina Saadi, 48, an illegal alien from France
    • Pakistani national Jamil Ahmad, 50, a lawful permanent resident
    • Pakistani national Nighat Jamil, 47, a lawful permanent resident
    • Portuguese national Paulo Silva, 54, a lawful permanent resident

Two aliens from Alabama who were charged with voting as an alien:

    • Peruvian national Silvia Delgado Phelps, 78, a lawful permanent resident
    • Jamaican national Staciann Pollion Davis, 42, a lawful permanent resident

Another individual, Forrest Scott Woody, 68, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, has been charged with illegally voting twice in the 2024 general election – first, in Henderson County, North Carolina, and then in Calhoun County, Alabama.

Cuban national Andre’s Garcia, 64, a lawful permanent resident, has been charged with two counts of illegally voting in federal elections in Missouri in November 2022 and November 2024.

“Garcia knew he was not a U.S. citizen but nevertheless claimed to be one when registering to vote in 2004 and again in 2013,” the DOJ states. “Garcia has allegedly voted regularly for the last 20 years in at least 15 elections, including at least 13 federal elections.”

Canadian national Stanley Walton, 82, a lawful permanent resident, has been charged with illegal voting in Idaho in the 2022 general election.

Lizabeth Almonte Rosa, 24, a naturalized U.S. citizen from the Dominican Republic, has been charged with illegally obtaining citizenship and then voting in a federal election in New Jersey.

According to court documents, “Rosa was not a citizen when she was registered to vote,” DOJ asserts.

Three individuals in Ohio were also charged:

    • British national Cary Ann Patterson, 59, a lawful permanent resident, has been charged with illegally voting in a federal election in Ohio as an alien.“Based on Gallia County Board of Elections records, Patterson allegedly voted in at least 10 elections as an alien,” says DOJ, after claiming to be a U.S. citizen on a voter registration card.
    • Pakistani national Arshed Zuberi, 69, a lawful permanent resident, allegedly voted illegally in at least six elections.
    • Filipino national Eliza M. Moss, 63, a lawful permanent resident, has also been charged with illegal voting in a federal election as an alien.

Polish national Dawid Nalepa, 45, has been charged with unlawfully voting in Hawaii as an alien after he allegedly voted in the November 2024 general election.

In Kentucky, Canadian national Sandra Madeline Watson, 59, a lawful permanent resident, has been charged with illegal voting by an alien in a federal election.

“A complaint, indictment, and information merely contain accusations,” the DOJ reminds Americans. “All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
