Republicans from the Committee on House Administration alerted Monday that 60 House GOP staff will be sent across the country on Election Day to serve as official election observers.
“These staff are our eyes and ears on the ground, ensuring the integrity of Congressional elections,” the GOP leaders posted to Truth Social.
In a preview of the election observer program, Chairman Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wisconsin), told Fox News Digital last week the deployment of the election monitors will be “the most robust program the House has ever done.”
“We’re building on the success that we had last cycle and recognizing that a large number of House races are likely to be close,” Steil said. “The balance of power in the United States House of Representatives is at stake, and we wanna make sure that we have eyes and ears on the ground in close races across the country.”
Steil said how the monitoring goes depends on the state and how soundly their elections are run. Election observers, he noted, could stay throughout the day, as votes are being cast and, even later, as votes are being counted.
“We want eyes and ears on the ground, recording what is occurring, and documenting what’s happening, and making sure that the rules are followed,” he told Fox News Digital.
Steil added that the Election Day observers are “the first step in identifying if there is a problem, and then they notify our team and we get to work immediately.”
As Fox News Digital noted, the election observer positions are federally protected under the Confirmation of Congressional Observer Access Act, which Congress enacted in 2024.
