The pollster who predicted Trump’s wins in the 2016 and 2024 elections is warning Americans about falling into the trap of believing the polls and urging them to get out and vote on Election Day.
John McLaughlin, CEO/Partner of McLaughlin & Associates, appeared Monday as a guest with Benny Johnson, host of The Benny Show, and reminded Johnson’s viewers that, in 2024, the Des Moines Register published a poll claiming that Kamala Harris was beating Donald Trump in Iowa, 47%-44%. Trump, however, ended up besting her by 13 points.
The Monday before Election Day is “voter suppression day,” McLaughlin said. “Your viewers … they’re not going to see that in the mainstream media because … what they do is they come out with rigged polls again, like they did.”
“Remember the Hillary lock?” the pollster asked. “I still have scars from it. 2016 on Election Day,” and he related the story:
I was saying that Donald Trump could win, and I spoke to 200 foreign journalists at the UN, and they were like – after I got done explaining … how Trump was going to win that day – somebody asked me, somebody from Africa, some African journalist, asked me, he said, “Won’t you have a lot of soul searching to do today?” And I said, “For what?” They said, “When you lose.” And I’m like, “We’re not going to lose.” And so, so, by the grace of God, we won that day.
McLaughlin said the left just hides in their own “camps,” listening to their own narratives and repeating them continually among themselves.
“The bad part is they put out a lot of bogus polls, that they’re trying to suppress our vote,” he noted, however. “Midterms are about turnout. So, when President Trump won, we had 155 million people come out. We had 77 million voted for President Trump. The midterm in 2018, you only had 118 million voters, and the left dominated that. In the midterm in 2022, you had 112 million voters, and there we ended up managing to take the House back, and we did better than expected.”
McLaughlin said, however, that the left is now “really doubling down with these fake polls,” asserting that the New York Times is even doing “ambush polls.”
Johnson posted as well on Monday night that the NYT “just admitted their polling is broken.”
“No one is responding, especially not Trump supporters,” he explained. “That is why MAGA is impossible to poll.”
Beyond this, McLaughlin said what is really “amazing” is the recent exposure of the Wedgwood firm polling fraud.
Wedgwood, he said, “just made up polls and put it out, and the left carried it.”
McLaughlin warned voters need to be careful about getting sucked into college polls, and recommended Americans follow the money.
“You got to watch out for these colleges who take government money from the state, so they do polling operations and I’m sure they’re influenced by their benefactors,” he said, adding, “We have the ability to win, but they’re discouraging our vote … What they want to do is they want to encourage Trump voters to stay home. They want to say you can’t win.”
“When we show up, we win,” Johnson wrote is the upshot of McLaughlin’s analysis. “Don’t listen to the suppression polls: go VOTE.”
