• Proposed Legislation in Connecticut that Must Be Stopped

We are never safe when these people are in session.

    Public Domain.

The good news is that Connecticut only has a part time legislature. The bad news is that they are now in session. Here is some of the proposed legislation that must be stopped.

    1. AN ACT CONCERNING CONSUMER PROTECTION. (SB 3)

    This law specifically states:

No vendor shall increase the price at which such vendor leases, rents or sells, or offers to lease, rent or sell, any item in trade or commerce to any person in this state if:

The increased price would be grossly disproportionate to the price at which such vendor currently leases, rents or sells, or offers to lease, rent or sell, such item to such person or persons similarly situated to…

In other words, the State wants to the right to impose price controls on consumer items such as groceries or gas. This never works in the long run.

But it is a response to Bidenomics that has resulted in massive inflation. It is a dry run for what Biden and our ruling class want to propose at a national level in October to keep Trump out of the White House.

     2. A RESOLUTION PROPOSING A STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT CONCERNING DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF SEX UNDER THE EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE (SJ4).

This appears harmless until you read the fine print. The amendment has clauses relating to “gender identity” and “terminating a pregnancy.” If this amendment is every enacted, barbaric third trimester abortions will be normalized (no other industrialized democracy permits this) and women’s sports will be destroyed by allowing trans-females (human beings with XY chromosomes who pretend to be women) compete with women.

    3. AN ACT CONCERNING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES RELATIVE TO IDENTIFIED ADOPTIONS AND REVISIONS TO CERTAIN TERMINOLOGY. (SB125).

Note the expression “revisions to certain terminology.” This legislation replaces the term “expectant mother” with “pregnant person.” The purpose of this is to normalize trans females having babies. A trans female is a woman who takes hormones to appear as a man (facial hair, smaller breasts etc.). Now if a woman of age wants to do this – fine. It is a free country. But a pregnant woman taking male hormones can damage her unborn child. This should be discouraged.

    4. AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF MAXIMIZING MEDICAID AND OTHER FUNDING FOR HEALTH CARE NEEDS (HB 5371).

Do not be fooled by this benign title. This law gives free health care to illegal immigrants. But the fact of the matter is that illegals already get free care. No emergency room in the United States can deny a sick patient care, regardless of national origin. Furthermore, a Supreme Court decision (Pyler v Doe) gives illegals the right to sue. Hospitals just eat the health care costs and then get reimbursed by the taxpayers.

But this will make it easier for doctors like me to get paid. Personally, I give illegal immigrants a break in my fees when I take care of them and in the past, those who cannot pay have brought me gifts. Contrary to President Trump’s rhetoric, illegals I have taken care of are wonderful people who just want a better life.

But it is simply not fair that patients who can trace their ancestry to the Mayflower have to pay outrageous health care premiums while illegals get free care.

    5. AN ACT CONCERNING TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES. (HB 5485)

This bill requires all new cars purchased by the residents of Connecticut after 2030 to be electric vehicles supposedly to save the planet and improve air quality. But if Connecticut wants to really improve air quality, it should ban smoke-spewing trucks from our roads.

Electronic vehicles sales are plummeting. The technology has not been perfected yet that allows them to be competitive with gas-powered vehicles or hybrids. Furthermore, their batteries have a tendency to explode. Perhaps they will be the vehicle of choice someday. But that should be determined by the marketplace, not by mandates.

    6. AN ACT EXPANDING PAID SICK DAYS IN THE STATE. (HB 5166)

This bill forces small businesses (those under 50 employees) to pay for sick leave. Many businesses can’t afford this and will close or do what so many businesses have already done – leave the state. Liberals will not be happy until Connecticut become a Right Not To Work State.

    7. AN ACT CONSOLIDATING STATUTORY PROVISIONS RELATING TO REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES AND GENDER-AFFIRMING HEALTH CARE SERVICES. (HB 214)

Doctors who perform procedures that rearrange the genitalia on patients to change their sex are encountering a very unpleasant group and it is not MAGA Yahoos or the Religious Right; it is the trial lawyers. This law makes it more difficult to sue doctors who do these procedures of dubious efficacy while charging huge amounts of money.

As I have said in the past, we should pay our legislators to stay home.

Terrifying and lawless! They will accomplish some of that agenda, OMG!
I remember growing up in rural CT with fondness. I recall the capitol building area before the highway projects cut through and destroyed most of the historic areas. I live in SW ID now. My husband's medical clinic was about 1/3 illegals. Identification requirements for working are fairly generous (at least out here), and about half paid cash. Cash beats going through billing insurance, so he gave steep discounts.
