The 29-year-old Chair of the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee and member of the Simsbury Zoning Commission, Tucker Salls, just did the unthinkable.
He attacked a mother from his own community on Facebook, calling her a "bigot" for her views on transgender ideology. The mother, Elvira Syed, is still grieving the tragic suicide of her daughter, Ilene Syed, after Ilene got caught up in transgenderism while in public school in Simsbury, Connecticut.
The Centinal told you all about the shocking story of how a trans pastor and a trans activist contributed to Ilene's transition, which was kept secret and happened entirely without parental consent.
Elvira Syed has since been telling the heartbreaking story of what happened to her daughter -- and what continues to happen as she tries to seek justice and closure, and warn other parents of the dangers of gender ideology -- on X.
Turns out that Syed had attended her Board of Selectmen (BOS) meeting in September—Suicide Awareness Month—to tell the story of what happened to her daughter, but she was cut off before her time ran out by Simsbury's First Selectman, Wendy Mackstutis.
"Apparently, grief has a time limit in this town," lamented Syed at the time.
Flash forward to the October 15th BOS meeting where Simsbury resident Joan Coe intended to complain about the First Selectman cutting off Syed before her time was up at the September meeting.
But before Coe got to tell Syed's story in her public comments, Coe complained about Mackstutis, and said she would be calling her "Wendy Mackstupid" from now on.
That's when things got a bit crazy. Coe's microphone was eventually cut, as Mackstutis scrambled to put the meeting into a brief recess to essentially silence Coe, which had the effect of preventing her from sharing the story about Syed. Mackstutis even debated whether to call the police on 88-year-old Coe.
The next day Tucker Salls decided to join the fray on behalf of the Simsbury DTC.
“Last night, I was saddened to see the immature and abusive conduct aimed at our First Selectman during the Board of Selectmen meeting, by a member of the public," wrote Salls. "The issues raised at the last meeting against Wendy are based in bigotry and not reality.”
In the comments Salls attempted to clarify what he meant by the "bigotry" accusation.
That's when he made it clear he wasn't talking about Coe calling the First Selectman "Mackstupid" -- he was talking about the comments that Syed had made about her own daughter's suicide over gender identity.
"A woman blames the school for her son's suicide because it was accepting of his gender identity while she was not.," wrote an absolutely insensitive Salls about Syed, who is Muslim.

"At first, Tucker claimed he was referring to Joan Coe. But later, when asked directly, he admitted he was actually talking about me — when I spoke about my daughter Ilene’s suicide at September meeting," wrote Syed. "So, in his eyes, a grieving mother speaking about her daughter’s death is “immature,” “abusive,” and “bigoted.”"
"It’s ironic that he chose to lecture others about “Character Lives In My Behavior,” the Tariffville Elementary motto he proudly quoted," wrote Syed. "Perhaps it’s time he practiced it, not just posted it. Because leadership — real leadership — means listening, not labeling. It means understanding before judging. And it means showing the decency you demand from others."
"If Mr. Salls wants to stand against “abuse,” he could begin by respecting the public’s right to speak during their allotted time, instead of cutting off or shaming those who bring uncomfortable truths," Syed continued. "And if he values “character,” he could show some by choosing empathy over mockery — especially toward someone who has already lost more than words can ever describe."
"Calling a grieving mother a “bigot” doesn’t make the world kinder, or fairer, or better. It only deepens the wounds of those who are already trying to survive unimaginable pain," wrote Syed. "My daughter didn’t die because of “bigotry.” She died because too many people stopped believing in family, in truth, and in the right of a parent to love and protect their child. So before anyone lectures me about “character,” I hope they pause — and remember that behind every “public comment” there’s a human being, a heart still breaking, and a story that deserves to be heard."
Salls, who was a housing lobbyist for Desegregate and currently works for the CT Military Department, is well aware that his comments have caused a great deal of pain to the Syed family -- after all, he follows the Centinal on X so he absolutely sees the comments that have been made about this.

Yet he has not decided to remove the offensive post from Facebook.
He has thus far refused to apologize for calling Syed a bigot, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Nope, Salls is apparently the kind of guy who would rather stand with a "Maryland dad" and alleged gang banger / human trafficker than with a grieving immigrant mother from his own community.
That's the kind of person Tucker Salls is.
