The Connecticut chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America ("DSA") is throwing a victory party in Hartford this evening for comrade Zohran Mamdani, after the socialist won the democrat endorsement to run for New York City Mayor.
Mamdani has some crazy ideas for New York, from state run grocery stores to defunding the police -- which he frames as a "feminist" issue -- ideas which are being celebrated once again by the CT DSA tonight.
The CT DSA even put out a statement on Mamdani's win, boasting about the "culmination of years and years of organizing" by the 80,000-member-strong DSA group.
"Zohran won not just because he was willing to stand against the billionaire class and the corrupt Democratic establishment, but also because of his love for humanity and peace; his solidarity with the local and global working class against the horrors of fascism, capitalism, and imperialism," wrote the CT DSA on Instagram.
"We are workers unionizing our workplaces; tenants organizing against our landlords; immigrants protecting each other; trans and queer folks fighting for bodily autonomy; teachers and parents and students demanding fully funded schools; people who want to see a free Palestine and a world liberated from war and destruction," the statement continued.
To be clear the CT DSA, which values the concepts of "identity, intersectionality, and solidarity," said it is looking to "birth a new world from the ashes of the old."

The CT DSA has already managed to get one of their own champions, democratic socialist Laurie Sweet, elected to the Connecticut General Assembly.
She represents Hamden in the State House.

Sweet has been quite busy in Hartford with her radical agenda, sponsoring 126 pieces of legislation in the 2025 session, including, for example:
Sweet's comrades in the CT DSA have been quite busy during "protest season", too, promoting an endless array of actions.
The group has even protested with their comrades from PSL -- the Party for Socialism and Liberation -- which was one of the two organizations implicated in the anti-ICE chaos and anarchy in Los Angeles earlier this month.

By the way Governor Lamont seemed pretty friendly with the CT DSA folks when he signed the bill they sponsored that gives tenants the right to have a lawyer during eviction proceedings in Connecticut.
Why was he so friendly, you might wonder?

Well, perhaps it's because the DSA endorsed Ned's Senate primary way back in 2006.
That's when Lamont beat Joe Lieberman in a democrat primary by surprise, but then Lieberman won the Senate race anyway, running as an Independent and serving his fourth and final term.

In light of that endorsement, now we're wondering if Lamont will also be joining his comrades for the party in Hartford tonight -- if not in person, maybe in spirit?
Especially since he already "saluted" Mamdani last week.

Sickening to see our beloved Republic embracing communism everywhere.
