High school seniors, especially girls, in Guilford were understandably frustrated by what happened at Senior Prom this year.

For the first time in the school's history, two Prom Kings were selected instead of a Prom King and a Prom Queen.

Guilford High School Assistant Principal Joel Rehbun, who uses he/him/his pronouns in his email correspondence, indicated that this was the result of a student-led change in school policy.

Apparently, a request was made by students a few years ago to move toward a "genderless" policy on Prom, which simply selects the two top vote-getters as the winners.

However, no one asked this year's class if they agreed with the genderless prom policy, or if they were even aware of the policy.

Nonetheless, two Prom Kings were selected, much to the disappointment of senior girls who were eagerly vying for the title.

    So much for women's equality.
