The Centinal has been made aware of social media posts in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination that have raised eyebrows for one reason or another—especially posts from organizations and people with a visible role in the community.
Let's take the Easton, Connecticut, Public Library for instance.
A group of individuals held a vigil for Charlie Kirk on the library grounds after receiving approval from First Selectman Bindelglass. This prompted "concerned citizens" to complain to the library, which quickly issued a statement distancing the library from a vigil for a husband and father who was brutally murdered.
It's far from the only library in the country that responded to Charlie Kirk's death in a way that caught people's attention.
A woman who claims to be an ICU nurse for Yale New Haven Hospital made a rather disturbing comment on WTNH News 8's post about the assassination.
She said, "not all hero's wear capes."
What do you think she meant by that? And is she the same kind of "hero"?
Then there was a Facebook post that included a call-to-action for Indivisible CT, asking comrades to contact Governor Ned Lamont to demand that he return the flag to full staff and decline President Trump's call to lower flags in honor of Charlie Kirk.
Heck, the CT Mirror even published an opinion on the topic that called Kirk "a man whose public life was defined by cruelty, bigotry, and division" and claimed he "worked tirelessly to marginalize and silence" people of color, women, LGBTQ+ folks, and immigrants.
UConn Professor and notorious vaccine-pusher Laura Haynes apparently agreed with Indivisible and the CT Mirror about lowering flags to honor Kirk.
As a reminder she's the Professor whose New Year's messages this year included "f*ck Trump" and and RFK is "f*cking dangerous."
East Haddam Board of Education member Jacqui Endorf tearfully resigned from her position after she posted, "let's stop with the thoughts and prayers for the kids of a dead nazi while ignoring the kids *actually starving to death in Gaza and the kids being murdered by guns in schools *DAILY."
Farmington Board of Education member Bill Beckert posted a reaction to Kirk's assassination that said, "They Reap What They Sow."
That comment drew the ire of the CT GOP, which was disgusted at seeing an elected official who "celebrated the brutal murder of a young husband and father of two whose only crime was having an opinion that is grotesque."
Grotesque? Why not say "an opinion with which he disagreed"?
A Board of Education candidate in Coventry seems to have posted, "may his name and memory be blotted out" and added that she was "not going to waste time and thoughts on this person" and hoped to forget any memories of him.
A BOE candidate in Brookfield shared similarly distasteful comments.
A women who works at Middle Gate in the Newtown Public School District apparently "wouldn't feel an ounce of sadness" about the assassination and instead "would celebrate."
When the Centinal contacted the Superintendent's office, we were told that it would not comment any further on the personnel matter, but Superintendent Anne Uberti did previously respond to a concerned parent by email.
"While employees have the right to express personal views outside of school, public posts that appear to celebrate violence, target individuals or groups or conflict with our district's values can raise legitimate concerns--especially when made by someone working with students," wrote Uberti.
"To be clear, the views expressed in these posts do not reflect the value of Newtown Public Schools. As a district, we are committed to fostering a school environment where all students and families feel safe, respected, and valued--regardless of their political beliefs or backgrounds," Uberti continued.
A petition has been launched, along with an open letter to the Board of Education and Superintendent calling for Danielle Slaughter Lozer's immediate removal.
Then there is a comment, allegedly from an elementary school teacher in Bethel Public Schools, who joked about the murder rate going up in Utah after the assassination, and sending in the National Guard.
We contacted Bethel's Superintendent about the post, and are still awaiting a response.
The Chair of the Bethel, Connecticut, Democrat Town Committee, and former First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker, who is now the Democrat candidate for Town Treasurer, chose to re-post a rant that demonizes Kirk for his "sometimes cruel" words.
The Canton Democrat Town Committee shared an item too, but not something about Charlie Kirk -- it was another wish for someone to "86" Donald Trump.
It reminded us of the Bridgeport, Connecticut-based aspiring R&B singer / Vogue make-up artist who wished that Candace Owens would be next...
And about Newtown, Connecticut-based singer-songwriter Jim Allen, who just sang a song about the various ways in which Donald Trump could die.
Coincidentally, Matthew Knickerbocker recently announced an event with Jim Allen... whose music is also adored by Newtown Middle Gate employee Danielle Slaughter Lozer.
What a small world!

Then there is Ivelisse Correa-Ojeda, the Vice President and Executive Assistant for Hartford's BLM 860.
She's been posting a seemingly endless array of tasteless memes and comments.
Wonder what she thinks of President Trump's new designation for Antifa as a major terrorist organization?
On the flip side, there was a Board of Education member in Middletown who apologized for posting an offer for free Turning Point educational materials to a Facebook group while using a profile that reflected his status as a BOE member.
A formal ethics complaint was filed against the man, and now Indivisible Connecticut is whipping up members to try to force the BOE member to resign.
Then there is "Fairfield Firebrand" Melissa Longo, the Fairfield Republican Town Committee (RTC) member who dropped a couple f-bombs in an emotional Facebook post after Kirk's assassination.
The Chair and Vice Chair of Longo's own RTC are now calling for Longo to resign immediately from her elected position on the Representative Town Meeting (RTM), and to withdraw her candidacy for the upcoming election in the wake of the coarse comments.
Longo's supporters are outraged that the RTC would try to cancel her, and are rallying in her defense.
The Fairfield Democrats were horrified by Longo's comments, and issued a lengthy statement acting as though they are morally superior for condemning political violence and calling for unity in the wake of Kirk's assassination.
Of course, on the same Facebook page, the Fairfield Democrats also celebrated nationwide days of protest, like "No Kings" and "Hands Off" in posts that included photos of protesters with signs featuring coarse language, and even a photo with an "86-47" poster.
Wait -- isn't that a call for political violence being normalized by the Fairfield Democrats?
