Indivisible Greenwich sent out an email alert yesterday for members to join a "national emergency call" that same night all about what Indivisible described as the "plain and simple" "murder" of Renee Nicole Good, a trained "ICE Watch warrior" who had clearly gone out with the intention of disrupting ICE raids.
"Violence is nothing new for Trump’s secret police force. But this killing is a tragic escalation in the racist campaign of terror being carried out against communities across our nation. It’s proof of what happens when armed thugs are unleashed into our neighborhoods without oversight or accountability," said the Indivisibles' email.
Gosh, how could we miss the opportunity to join a call like that?
Especially since the newly-elected chair of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation, David Weisbrod, is a huge Indivisible guy.
So is BET member Matt DesChamps, Selectwoman Rachel Khanna, State Reps. Stephen Meskers and Hector Arzeno, and that "pop up protest" guy Dan Edelstein who is on record badgering ICE officers in Stamford.
But we digress...
As soon as we joined the zoom, we saw a familiar face, Ash-Lee Woodward Henderson, whom you might remember from previous organizing calls for Hands Off and May Day.

Henderson mentioned the “tragic shooting” in Portland, saying “this continued evil only adds to the importance of why we’re here,” said Henderson.
At least 12 minutes before the zoom started, Bill Melugin broke the news that Border Patrol was going after a Venezuelan illegal alien Tren de Aragua member involved in a recent Portland shooting. What's evil about that?

"We know that, frankly, ICE and cops and CBP and law enforcement of all stripes have been killing people, harming our communities and doing illegal shit for years," claimed Henderson. "Even if it wasn't illegal, immoral shit for years."
"It's incredibly crucial that we win the narrative over defining this as an act of horrendous political violence. We make that backfire. We ensure people understand it's a bigger story about an illegitimate, out-of-control, secret police force that's inflicting terror and chaos on our neighbors on a daily basis," said the wild-eyed Henderson whose mission is to make sure activists feel safe enough to protest all weekend.
The first guest on the call was Minnesota Senator Tina Smith.
She said that Good "was only trying to take care of her neighbors" when she "was shot and killed by federal agents" and balked at Homeland Security Secretary Kristy Noem's assertion that Good was a "domestic terrorist."
While she was blathering on, calling ICE "kidnappers," a couple messages appeared in the chat from a "Dr. Stephanie Paulmeno" ... which is coincidentally the name of a Greenwich Health Department "doctor" of nursing who got paid to shill covid vaccines ...

Next on the call, Emilia Avalos from Unidos MN, explained how 22,000 activists in the state of Minnesota had already been trained on how to become "legal observers" -- exactly what Good was described as -- through an organization called Monarca.
Then Avalos fired off a list of demands, including:
Julio Zelaya from the ACLU came on the call to assert that ICE was "out of control," "terrorizing" and "intimidating" our communities. He wants to make sure that Minnesota remains a sanctuary state, and reiterated Avalos' demands.
Gwen Mills from the UNITE Here union can't imagine, as a white person, what it's like to deal with immigration these days, as she likened the Trump Admin's plan to deport criminal illegals to a "campaign of mass terror."
The keynote speaker, Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin, excitedly announced the branding for this weekend's action -- ICE OUT for Good -- which is being coordinated with partners like ACLU, Move on, United We Dream, 50501, Voter Latino, Disappeared in America, the Not Above the Law coalition and many others.
"I do not want to see elected officials merely expressing outrage, that's our job. Our job is to express outrage! It's the elected's job to act," said Levin. "If your elected is simply pointing fingers without using their votes, their leverage, their power to stop Trump's secret police force from murdering Americans, they should find a different line of work."
He promised that "what happened in Minneapolis" is coming to every town before rattling off a laundry list of ideas for engaged activists to "do the work" this weekend.

Others joined the call to express their outrage, including Executive Director of MoveOn, Katie Bethell, and Community Change Co-President Lorella Praeli... who admitted during the call that she has "undocumented family members" ... and Brandon Wolf from the largest LGBT-activist organization in the US, Human Rights Campaign.
Just like the other meetings, the call ended with a link to a toolkit full of information, including things like messaging, Know Your Rights training, de-escalation tips, emergency preparedness and more.
After all, protests for Indivisible are on autopilot at this point; it's just wash, rinse, repeat.
So far, Connecticut "ICE OUT" protests, which are also being promoted by the Connecticut Democratic Socialists of America and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, are planned in Bridgeport, Guilford, Hartford, New Haven, New London, Mystic, Salisbury, Stamford, Torrington, Windham, Willimantic.
** Note that the Stamford protest has been moved to Sunday; see flyer at end of post

By the way, the goal of the "ICE OUT for Good" movement is to abolish ICE... which is not unlike the goal of the George Floyd protest movement... which was to defund the police.
The coincidences are not lost on us; we are wide awake.
Which brings us right back to where we started... Indivisible Greenwich... and the prominent supporters who warmly embrace Indivisible's efforts, which presumably include the current "abolish ICE" effort advertised in the email yesterday.
Do BET members Weisbrod and DesChamps, Selectwoman Khanna, State Reps. Meskers and Arzeno, and Dr. Paulmeno also believe that the federal agency responsible for securing our nation's borders and safeguarding the integrity of our immigration system should be abolished?
Will they be at the protest in Stamford tomorrow?
And have they seen the latest footage from the ICE agent's perspective?
