The Connecticut Communist Party joined their leftist comrades in arms at Hands Off protests all across the state on Saturday, including in Greenwich.
Naturally, we were curious as to how many elected officials, friends and neighbors from Greenwich would line up on the same side as communists to oppose cutting government waste, fraud and abuse.
You would think that stopping $2.7 trillion in "improper payments" to dead people and people no longer eligible for government programs, for instance, would be an easy thing to agree on, but not for this crowd!
The party got started by the founder of Greenwich Indivisible, Joanna Swomley, who offered some scripted remarks before handing off the mic to Congressman Jim Himes.
Himes complained about how quickly Trump pardoned people caught up in the January 6th "fed-surrection" right after being sworn in to “uphold the Constitution.”
"Four hours later, he pardoned the thousands of people who attacked the symbol of our democracy, who broke the law, who assaulted 140 police officers. He pardoned the attackers of January 6th, setting the tone for the now three months that we have seen," said Himes.
He proceeded to scare the senior-heavy crowd by telling them that billionaires would be stealing their Medicaid, even though Trump has promised he will not cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid over and over and over again.
Next up was Attorney General Tong, whose well-rehearsed but unhinged speech was used to fear-monger and scare people, especially senior citizens and immigrants, into feeling like they "walk around with a target" on their backs "every single day."
He also instilled fear over school budget cuts, saying, “if you're a special ed student here in Greenwich, Connecticut, if you're a teacher or if you're a school bus driver, good luck.”
Tong bragged about "flooding the zone" with non-stop lawfare from his office, all apparently on the taxpayer dime, including three lawsuits filed in just the last week alone:
That's on top of the other lawfare he's already initiated, such as suing the administration over ending birthright citizenship, continuing the practice of genital and surgical mutilation of children (aka "gender affirming care"), eliminating the bureaucracy in education, prioritizing military excellence, stopping Elon Musk and DOGE, cutting costs at HHS and NIH, and freezing funding to OMB.
Sure makes you wonder how much Tong's lawfare efforts are costing the good taxpayers of Connecticut, doesn't it?
The last speaker of the day was our old friend and frequent critic, Svetlana Wasserman.
She's the gal who argued Greenwich Patriots had a "callous disregard for human life" because we dared to tell people the truth that masks didn't work for covid, and how "the Covid vaccine will kill you but Ivermectin and natural remedies will save you."
Wasserman previously worked for the Open Society Institute founded by globalist George Soros—a job curiously scrubbed from her resume—so it was not a surprise to see her rallying the troops for a color revolution on behalf of her old boss and Indivisible donor.
As a leader of the protest that day, Svetlana wore a yellow armband on her right arm and read from a prepared speech that echoed the talking points provided in advance by Indivisible.
She's also apparently upset that taxes in Greenwich won't be increasing as much as democrats wanted and that $4 million in BOE savings have been identified "without touching classroom programs, staffing, or student services."
"This week, on a party line vote, Republicans on our town finance board rammed through $17 million in cuts that leave no one unscathed," said Wasserman who called on BET members Matt DesChamps and David Weisbrod to wave their hands in the air.
She also gave a shout-out to State Reps Hector Arzeno and Steve Meskers before returning to the part in her Indivisible script where she asked the crowd to repeat her chants.
The yellow armbanded leaders then led protesters on a march down Greenwich Avenue to get loaded onto a train headed to New York City for more protesting.
Those who didn't hoof it to the city either disbanded or followed Himes and Tong onto the next protest destination in Stamford.
Most of the protesters were eager to smile and wave for the camera until they recognized us and realized we weren't on their side... which shouldn't be a surprise considering we generally do not take the same side as communists and globalists.
We saw the woman who repeatedly called people "nazis" at the Stamford Tesla protest, Board of Education member Sophie Koven, Leslie Yager from the Greenwich Free Press, and many other familiar faces from recent Town Halls by Himes and Senator Chris Murphy.
For what it's worth, we didn't engage with the protesters, ask questions or make any comments; we simply went to observe and report on "what democracy looks like" to a crowd of mostly middle age white liberals and seniors.
And then we joined some of the same folks in Stamford for the next conveniently scheduled protest which featured a very similar demographic -- click here for the full report!
It appears the Connecticut Communist Party and Indivisible cult don’t go in for that D.E.I. nonsense.
From all the “protest” photos I’ve seen, they only hire White Baby Boomers worried about their 401Ks.
