When discussing the dominance of the Democrat Party in large states such as NY, California and Illinois, there is a tendency to overlook their dominance in other, smaller states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The larger states are simply taken for granted as bastions of Democrat control because of their size, the one-party status in their large cities and the intellectual influence they exert by virtue of the fact that they are centers of both media and liberal academic powerhouses like Yale or Harvard.
But something may be happening in deep Blue Connecticut.
Something odd… something different… something unexpected.
For all intents and purposes, Connecticut is a one-party state, upon which the Democrat Party sits like an immense glacier: gigantic, seemingly eternal; impossible to move or displace. In fact, if there is any “movement” at all, it is at the bottom of the glacier, where it serves as an imperceptible but implacable force that grinds all that lies beneath it to dust.
Viewed from the outside, decades pass and little or nothing seems to change; it has always dominated the landscape and it seemingly always will.
This political glacier has crushed its opposition to such an extent that all that remains of its opponents lie entombed at its base, exercising as little effect upon it as “the Iceman,” the 5300 year old desiccated mummy discovered at the foot of a receding glacier in the Alps.
The fact of the matter is that the Establishment Republican Party of Connecticut is as dead, irrelevant and powerless as the mummified Iceman.
Its obituary could not have been better stated than it was by Beth MacGillivray, the former Chair of the Greenwich Republican Town
Committee, who described its dismal failure in terms too stark to be denied: “No motivation, no ground game: meetings canceled, no election headquarters, no voter turnout effort.”
Nothing could better demonstrate the utter electoral impotency of the Establishment CT Republican Party than the fact that it has recently endorsed the same congressional candidate to run against Rep. Jim Himes as it did in 2024, despite the fact that this failed candidate lost the 2024 election by 23.72 percentage points (61.06 for Himes, 37.34% for his challenger.)
As I have noted:
“Republicans have lost every Senate election since 1982 and every Congressional election since 2008. This wretched record is further exacerbated by… being an impotent, eternal minority in the CT state legislature. Worse still, they haven’t elected a Republican governor in 15 years.”
Yet even seemingly eternal geological glaciers do eventually melt. Whether because of solar radiation or planetary wobble or plate tectonics producing volcanoes pouring out boiling lava at their base, glaciers recede with the passage of time.
There seems to be such a political “tectonic plate” movement going on in Connecticut which, though largely invisible because it is going on far beneath the surface, nonetheless seems to be taking place; however, unlike geological tectonic movements which operate over the course of eons, political tectonic movements often occur with the rapidly of a rocket.
If one knows where to look, one can see evidence of this change in Connecticut.
For example, Ryan Fazio is the Republican nominee for governor in 2026 and he “flipped a state senate seat in Connecticut… in a huge victory in a district President Joe Biden won by over 25 percent in the 2020 election.”
Fazio is not at all like the usual weak, Establishment RINO losers that the unimaginative party elders constantly foist upon their voters. Tellingly, he faces no RINO primary opponent.
He is a proud conservative who is not afraid to be aligned with those who support the populist changes championed by President Trump, including:
It will be interesting to see how he fares against the Democrat incumbent.
Will he do better than previous RINO candidates?
Will he do worse?
Will he win?
We don’t know the answers to such questions yet, but the fact that he is the nominee indicates a desire for a new common-sense conservatism that is in line with the MAGA reality of the party across the country.
This indicates a strong sense of disgust and a rejection of the type of Establishment Republican politics by voters who have writhed in agony at the bottom of the Democrat Glacier for decades.
Fresh faces and new attitudes will likely appeal to the many conservatives but also to the many moderate Independents in Connecticut, who usually cast their ballots in favor of the Democrats but who may now be wondering if their moderate viewpoint is in sync with a Party whose radical Base is pushing it more and more into open support for Communism that is badly disguised as Democratic Socialism.
But the really important element in the conservative volcano breaking through at the bottom of the political glacial ice is the youth.
Like many groups before them, they were politicized by some catalyzing issue. Where the boomers were politicized by the Vietnam War and the Millennials who were horrified by the danger of WW III and the terrible prospect of the living envying the dead on “The Day After,” Gen-Z’s catalyst was that which came in direct contact with their daily lives.
Trapped in government schools that are totally dominated by far Leftwing Teacher Unions acting as cultural propagandists rather than “educators,” they were far more concerned with creating progressive activists than they were with educating students. As a result, they produced a generation where few could read or do math on level or think critically… but who could effortlessly mouth all the WOKE Leftwing bromides that were poured into their heads.
Many succumbed to this academic brainwashing and cultural rape, which was only noticed by outraged parents during COVID; we can see them today when rich White kids dress in Keffiyehs and carry HAMAS flags as they cos-play Islamist terrorists while rioting on campus.
We find them cheering any WOKE cultural perversity the Left can conjure up, which have its origins in the political grimoires conceived by the neo-Marxist Frankfort School.
From trans-sexual genital mutilation of children; to men in women’s sports and private places, to excoriating traditional sexual roles, to embracing the bizarre abnormalities excreted by the Inner City against everything natural found on Main St. America. They bitterly reject all norms and all religions (except Islam); they screech their hatred of America and Western Heritage at the behest of those who mislead them: viz. the not-so-crypto Communists in groups like the Democrat Socialists of America.
Of course, they save the most vicious element of their antinomianism by venting their white-hot wrath against the manufactured stereotype of what they hate most:
Men…
…especially White Men…
…bigoted, brutal, racist, sexist, homophobic, irredeemably toxic males… as well as the traditionally minded women who they think have been “brainwashed” into betraying their sex by preferring a traditional, family lifestyle that includes having children rather than sacrificing them to the scissors and the sucking tubes wielded in the abattoirs of Planned Anti-Parenthood.
It is against this mindset that counter-Revolutionary youth find its motivation and courage.
For it is courage that pushes people to new horizons and the treasures that wait there; without the mindset that it provides, no culture can survive.
It is the commitment to fight for the new by carrying the traditional values and strengths that make life livable to greater heights.
Because the enemies of society seek to devalue courage and instead foster meek dependence on the State, our cultural base is now so weakened that it is descending into chaos and anarchy, which is the Left’s path to power. Therefore, youth must learn to venerate a true fighting spirit, so that their counter-Revolution represents its true possession.
It must fight a counter-Revolution that realizes that the more pure and edifying type of patriotism that, in better times, was based on GOD and country now requires a more muscular, nationalistic unity to preserve both against a fanatically WOKE Left that has become maniacal in its hatred of both Nation and normality.
It must not fight simply for conservatism but for restoration.
This backlash is at the Gen-Z heart of what may be the main element in cracking the Democrat glacier in Connecticut.
All around the state, young people barely out of their teens are considering running for office against the zombie Uni-Party that has delivered them into a disaster that constantly gets worse.
One young man, Blake Consentino has founded a youth group called American Destiny. This group is dedicated to organizing college students and other Gen-Z youth to provide the greatly needed volunteer work required to directly aid the campaigns of proud conservatives like Ryan Fazio, State Senate candidate Amybeth LaRoche and other conservatives around the state.
It isn’t the politically senile, narcoleptic Establishment Republicans who are making effective challenges to Democrat Party dominance, but young conservatives like Consentino, who challenging incumbent Aimee Berger-Girvalo for the position of State Representative in the town of Ridgefield.
Consentino’s platform speaks to the need to preserve Connecticut’s suburban character and environment against the encroachments of the urban-centric Democrat Party. He opposes the 8-30G gateway to urbanization and advocates for local control over what is being built in Ridgefield. He
understands that over-building without concern for the detrimental effects it can have on infrastructure and the local environment is a net negative for local towns. He wants property tax relief for longtime homeowners and keeping those homes in the hands of families, not corporations.
He seeks to improve the safety of deathtraps such as Route 7, where traffic deaths are all too common… and have been too long ignored by his opponent, who just happens to be the Vice Chairman of Transportation Committee in Hartford!
Consentino advocates for a new politics that reveals to the young the need to alter the inert status quo that is damaging their prospects for the future.
He exposes the reality of a state controlled by arrogant Democrats, who laugh at a sclerotic Establishment Republican “opposition” that is so moribund that it lacks the will to even run candidates to contest many of the elections being held throughout Connecticut.
The glacial aspect of Connecticut politics depends on an ongoing status quo; but as Mr. Consentino states:
“When has the status quo ever changed history?”
At some point, the frustration of the voters creates political volcanoes that burst through; magma pours out, the ice melts and the environment warms to political changes.
Gen-Z is the political magma that has the potential to join with older Reaganites and conservative Millennials to melt the frozen glacial landscape that is currently crushing Connecticut beneath it, locking it in a nightmare where problems grow and fester, new ideas die unborn, innovative solutions are rejected and stabilizing norms of tradition and decency are traduced, degraded and ridiculed.
Mobilizing the young in favor of the future is the only way to melt the glacial status quo… and the only way to change history in Connecticut is for the young to find the courage to make it happen.
The cliché that “nothing lasts forever” remains valuable because it remains true. Neither Ice Ages, not miles high glaciers nor frozen political environments like the one smothering Connecticut are permanent.
Crack it.
Melt it.
End it.

Great article!!! Nothing but the truth! How do we help Gen Z to move forward and have courage to fight the Democratic Socialist Communist regime?
Great piece! Happy to see Gen-Z stepping up
Since establishment Connecticut Republicans are now the Walking Dead, it is up to young conservative voters to follow the advice recommended in this article.
Well written article! The USA is done unless the young can be de-programmed and step up politically. It would be great to see the Republicans flip a state that is part of the East Coast liberal establishment. NO representation of conservatives, these states are 100% Democrat, and the results show it!
