We last left off indicting ‘conservatives’ for abetting America’s and Connecticut’s respective demise. In spite of their claims to the contrary – none of the ‘progress’ toward a childish version of justice happened in a vacuum - it necessarily required first their compromise, then their submission to certain unholy ideas. And most today fantasize that the system can be restored simply by clamoring, by asserting classic platitudes and by electing the right people.
Your father’s conservative worldview is… no longer. Whether or not he personally retreated as he imparted it on you is rather anticlimactic. The fact is that the body charged with practicing, protecting and extolling Christian-American conservative values across America’s life span has instead forfeited them as the nation embraces convenience. Perhaps a function of entropy, we regardless tend to absolve ourselves of complicity. The descent will not be halted. The system has imploded. Conservative values have become reduced to mere bromides by a larger and larger share of the faithful - holding themselves morally and politically pure. We ought to be asking ourselves what serves as the root of our failure to stand and challenge the degeneracy. And we might further ask ourselves how we’ve come to maintain such the sanctimonious self-image.
To set the stage, let’s provide a little context. To the opposition, what is progress? One may contend that they hold progress to be a wholesale rejection of all historic, patriarchal institutions, conceiving them instead as prisons – unjust, restrictive and boring. We typically understand their motivation as a casualty of their being exploited. And it is framed by a number of critical, related planks.
And it is so. We are now subject to such “progress“ in formal… binding… policy.
With this as our premise…
How have YOU repudiated these planks?
Do you think that progress just ‘happens’? That progress is inevitable? That it is
inherently good?
What enabled such ‘progress’, even going so far as to redefine the word?
How is a culture shaped?
Is a culture spontaneous and random or is it fostered?
How is a desirable/successful culture defined and measured?
How does culture devolve? What is virtue? Vice? Principles? Are virtues, vices
and principles timeless and universal? Or are they subjective? Subjective to you?
How many variants of culture exist? Ought all be considered equal?
What keeps a culture stable? Consistent? Righteous?
How is it carried through the generations? By extolling and demonstrating values?
Or by limiting hope and opportunity to deviate, escape or transcend?
By limiting sloth? By limiting objection? By avoiding the use of… shame?
Is there a single American culture?
What were the defining characteristics of the U.S. culture then?
What are they now?
How has the U.S. culture evolved?
What are its deepest flaws?
What is it about American culture that you find objectionable? How about
convenient? Or comfortable? Or …?
What would you rather the American culture presumed as sanctioned?
Can one man change it? Affect it? How?
Have you or have you not contributed to the current landscape?
Have we expedited a cultural retreat through stigmas?
Through fear of rejection by the female estate? Or rejection by the intellectual
estate, by peers, by modernity, or, rather … by not being strong enough in your
faith or in your brother’s faith?
Might we call it neglect, a ‘dereliction of cultural stewardship’?
Can the trend be reckoned? What shall reckon it?
We speak of a return to God, call it a revival. There are historical ‘revivals’ that we can look to. But what does that even mean especially when we consider that our current confines are a veritable paradise compared to previous eras?
Repentance? Can anyone actually conclude that a nation ever repented? For that matter, what is national repentance?
If we consider that the U.S. culture has devolved into a swamp, and, our relevant governing bodies are a reflection of that, and, the train of historical compromises against our personal, moral and governing constitutions is not redeemable, and, the ‘field’ is a hellscape, and not worth reclaiming… is not restoration a moot point, a waste of energy? Even an impossibility?
Then, ought not our complete attention be focused on…
Or do you find that a conflict of interest and principles and thus, off the table?
Finally,
How do you live your life?
By principle?
How highly do you value personal responsibility?
How comfortable are you with your mortality? Will you consider foregoing…?
Will you consider challenging your neighbor/child/boss/representative with…?
Who is the righteous authority in your life?
Are your principles based in Christ? In the founding essence of America? Both?
What then, is your first principle?
Do you hold your associations to it? If not, why not?
What is the rationale behind compromise – behind your compromise?
Might you have been able to circumnavigate compromise?
At what cost?
Would you consider that the Right has allowed compromise after collective
compromise by not wanting to be bothered by conflict? By sheer indifference? By
enough of us remaining silent so as to tip the scale? By valuing principle less than
we claim to?
Do you remember saying “no“ to your child? Your parents saying “no“ to you?
Do you remember why?
Is saying “yes“ just giving fairness its say? Giving open-mindedness its say?
Giving convenience its say?
What could be so wrong about saying “yes“, you ask?
What effect did saying “yes“ to your child to stretch societal boundaries have on
the child? Have on your family?
What effect did your neighbor saying “yes“ to their child have on the
neighborhood? On the State? On the nation?
Going forward, will you consider any of these challenges?
Or will you remain satisfied with railing about all of the Left’s intentions and
transgressions… and hope to halt the cultural decline via elections and legislative
rollbacks that shall restore the righteous system?
Culture before policy. Take care of your house with abandon.
And teach a child.
