Just when you think you've seen it all!
A group of activists organized by the Connecticut For All coalition descended on the State Capitol in Hartford on Tax Day, dressed like billionaires — or at least how they imagine billionaires dress — while demanding that Governor Ned Lamont “tax the rich.”
The coalition also called for “Trump-proofing” the state budget by setting aside $1 billion to replace federal funding they claim has been cut — money they say was previously used for illegal immigrants or DEI programs.
Seth Freeman, President of The 4Cs SEIU Local 1973 and a Professor of Computer Information Systems at Connecticut State Community College, led the crowd in chants of “Tax the rich and fund Connecticut!”
“Now is the time to put the needs of working families ahead of millionaires and billionaires,” Freeman declared. He claimed the collective fortune of Connecticut’s 17 billionaires has jumped $24.7 billion since Trump took office — prompting loud boos directed at Governor Lamont for not taxing them enough.
A New Haven bookstore owner argued that Lamont is protecting billionaires at the expense of working people like herself and her employees.
A representative from CT Students for a Dream — an organization that advocates for illegal immigrants — complained about ICE and insisted the top 1% isn’t paying “their fair share.”
A New Britain public school teacher insisted working-class people already pay enough, so Lamont must “tax the rich” to properly fund schools.
State Rep. Jason Doucette (D-Manchester), co-chair of the “Tax Equity” caucus, told the crowd his goal is simple: “Tax the rich.” He gave shout-outs to fellow State Reps. MJ Shannon and Laurie Sweet, who cheered from the audience. Note that Sweet is a Democratic Socialist, just like Zohran Mamdani.
Doucette claimed the majority of rank-and-file legislators support “progressive taxation,” but leadership is the obstacle. He then asserted:
“The top 10% of taxpayers in Connecticut are paying somewhere around 7% of their income to state and local taxes… And everybody else, the bottom 50%, we’re paying something like 25% of our income… and that is shameful!”
He celebrated that the Finance Committee passed a package including a 1.75% capital gains tax surcharge on millionaires — with some Republican support.
The Hartford Courant described the event as “a rally calling on lawmakers to create a more fair tax system.”
In reality, it was a straightforward call for wealth redistribution — the classic socialist tool for engineering “equitable” outcomes.

Poor, delusional people. They've read no history - Collectivism is a loser and has NEVER worked anywhere. This is what our education system has wrought - a generation of dummies.........
