Mansfield, Connecticut, launched Pride Month with a flag-raising ceremony at Town Hall on Monday.
The town is also hosting a public celebration this Friday featuring “freebies” for attendees of all ages, including:
The event will also feature the UConn Dairy Truck and a hula hoop artist. Previous years’ celebrations were funded in part by a Connecticut Department of Children & Families Enhancement Grant.

The Mansfield Public Library promoted pride month by publishing a list of “LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive” book recommendations on the town website — including titles aimed at the youngest elementary school readers.

The town website also highlights the Mansfield Youth Pride (MY Pride) group, which is "open to Mansfield residents in grades 5-8 who are part of the LGBTQIA+ rainbow (and allies are welcome too)."
In addition, the town provided links to various Connecticut resources — including one that directs users to Yale Medicine’s Gender Program. When hovering over the link, the URL still reveals “Yale Pediatric Gender Program.”

That page previously featured a now-removed video of Dr. Christy Olezeski, director of the program (who still holds her position at Yale). In the video, Olezeski stated that the program works with “gender expansive individuals — three to 25 years old.”
Yes, she discussed placing children as young as three years old on their "gender journey.”
Yale worked hard to scrub every instance of the shocking video off the web, but you can still watch it on social media.
Meanwhile, Republican State Rep. candidate Jadon MacCormack is pushing back.
MacCormack posted on Facebook that he is celebrating “Straight Month” this June, writing:
“It’s American to be Anti-Pride Month — this is America’s 250th Anniversary. Take a stand like George Washington.”
He referenced the historical fact that in 1778, General George Washington approved the court-martial and dismissal of Lt. Frederick Gotthold Enslin, who was charged with “attempting to commit sodomy.”
MacCormack stated he will “stand firmly against the Transgender and LGBT movement that has for far too long corrupted our families, undermined parental authority, and eroded the foundational values of our society.”
He argued the ideology contradicts “God-given rights and common sense,” and pledged — if elected — to protect children from “premature medical interventions, indoctrination in schools, and the normalization of perverse ideologies that threaten the innocence of the next generation.”
The Mansfield Democratic Town Committee responded by calling MacCormack a bigot.
