The Fairfield Republican Town Committee is deeply troubled by Governor Ned Lamont’s behavior after he was questioned by a reporter from The Connecticut Centinal newspaper about a moving violation involving Democrat State Senate candidate Rob Blanchard who also serves on Lamont’s campaign.
Blanchard, who previously served as Governor Ned Lamont's communications director, reportedly received a moving violation on October 20 in Newtown, where he has resided since July. Blanchard is a candidate for State Senator in the 28th district which encompasses Fairfield, and parts of Easton, Newtown and Bethel.
Regardless of political affiliation, the Fairfield RTC firmly believes that journalists deserve to be treated with professionalism and respect, particularly when asking legitimate questions of elected officials and political candidates.
A free and independent press is a cornerstone of our democracy. Journalists play an essential role in holding public officials accountable, asking difficult questions, and ensuring citizens have the information they need to make informed decisions.
Governor Lamont should understand that answering questions from the press is part of public service, not an inconvenience.
Watch the video below and judge for yourself.

That camera angle in the video clip on the social media post embedded here, and the screenshot with Lamont’s hand, (the backhanding) is pretty damning. The guv is also very quick to dismiss the reporter. Thank you to the Fairfield team for calling this out. Are they the only RTC in CT that has done so? It was a non-threatening approach asked respectfully and instead of responding civilly it *appears based on the video clip* that King Ned CHOSE TO respond physically and in a disrespectful manner
