The Brunswick and Darien boys lacrosse teams took steps up, and Fairfield Prep slipped a few spots in the latest Nike/USA Lacrosse National Top 25.
Brunswick-Greenwich, which has won its last six games, moved up two spots to No. 7. The Bruins defeated Avon Old Farms 14-9 and Salisbury School 18-15 last week and improved to 12-3.
Brunswick started the season as the national No. 1, but three losses, including a 12-11 defeat in Darien, had dropped the Bruins to No. 10. They’ve made small steps up the rankings the last two weeks.
Fairfield Prep, which had replaced Brunswick as Connecticut’s top team in the rankings the last two weeks, dropped eight spots to No. 16 following a 14-10 loss to No. 14 Boston College High School on Saturday.
The Jesuits (13-2) had won 12 straight following a 9-8 loss to Darien on opening night. That remains their only loss to a Connecticut team this season.
Darien, which had dropped out of the Top 25 for one week in late April, is now No. 19, up one spot from last week. The Blue Wave has an eight-game winning streak since a loss to No. 4 St. Anthony’s (NY), and most recently defeated Chatham (NJ) 8-6 and Greenwich 15-2.
Staples-Westport, New Canaan and Wilton are not ranked at the moment, but have all cracked the Top 25 at points this season.
