Family Institute of Connecticut is pleased to announce that Archbishop LeRoy Bailey will be FIC's 2023 Charles Stetson Awardee. The award is given each year at our annual banquet to whomever played the most pivotal role in a pro-family victory over the previous 12 months.

In the case of Archbishop Bailey, this award has been a long time coming. If you have been in the pro-family fight here in Connecticut for any length of time, you know what we mean.

Archbishop Bailey was one of the key pastors who courageously led the fight for the traditional definition of marriage in the 2000s. He spoke at FIC's giant rallies at the state Capitol. He was ludicrously protested by white LGBT activists when he keynoted West Hartford's Martin Luther King Day celebration.

In the 2010s, Archbishop Bailey stood up to the ACLU's anti-religious bias when they demanded that a public high school not hold its graduation ceremony at his church. If a similar case were to go before the U.S. Supreme Court today, we believe it would rule with more justice than did a Connecticut judge. Unbowed, Archbishop Bailey told the powerful exactly what he thought of their departure from righteousness when he spoke at the annual Legislative Prayer Breakfast.

Archbishop Bailey has continued to be a rare voice speaking truth to Connecticut's elites right into the 2020s. Last year, he opened the first Connecticut March for Life in prayer. And this year, he was a key behind-the-scenes player in FIC's biggest victory of 2023: our 10th anniversary defeat of assisted suicide.

And those are just some of the many instances where Archbishop Bailey's long history of service to God's truth in Connecticut overlaps with FIC's own work. Check out Archbishop Bailey's biography on First Cathedral's website.

The FIC Banquet is slightly less than a month from now, on Friday, Oct. 13th at the Stamford Marriott. Our keynote speaker, Mark Houck, and our Stetson Awardee, Archbishop Bailey, have both experienced firsthand the weaponization of the government against people of faith.

It is THE issue of the day and it is why we REALLY need you to attend this year's banquet.
