We were lucky to get a ticket to see US Congressman Jim Himes at his Town Hall in Norwalk on Saturday -- lucky because the link to register appeared in the Indivisible Stamford Facebook group hours before we received the official email from Himes -- and those tickets sure did get snapped up fast!
Himes is definitely cozy with Indivisible Stamford, whose members greeted people outside the Town Hall by handing out flyers for the upcoming "Hands Off" nationwide action.
This is the same group that promoted protests at Stamford Tesla earlier this month (here and here) where angry protestors could be heard yelling welcoming and inclusive things like "you're a f*cking nazi" at strangers in the parking lot.
Nationally, Indivisible has been linked to hateful and destructive attacks against Tesla, but to our knowledge, Democrats aren't denouncing these acts or calling them hate crimes or even telling followers to knock it off.
In fact, on the local level, Indivisible members are also calling for hateful and destructive attacks -- not necessarily on Tesla dealerships, but on any neighbor who has a Tesla parked in the driveway!
Like a certain Greenwich Democrat and Indivisible member who wants to test a theory to see if Tesla owners are capable of shame... by covering their Teslas with slices of cheese every night to intimidate neighbors into selling their cars.
At any rate Himes welcomed the Indivisibles with wide open arms to his Town Hall, and encouraged everyone in the room to attend the April 5th Indivisible protest in Stamford.
He started off with a well-rehearsed 10-minute overview on the lay of the land under Trump, as he sees it, before opening up floor to questions from a mostly friendly audience.
"Don't ever accept from a politician that they're going to fix the problems by finding waste, fraud and abuse," said Himes, taking a swipe at DOGE. "Of course there's waste fraud and abuse. By the way if you really want to find waste, fraud and abuse, you don't start with USAID or social security or medicaid. You start with the Pentagon."
Unless you want to shut off the steady stream of cash being funneled into left wing NGOs, as Trump does, then you start with USAID, social security and medicaid.
Plus, Himes ignored the fact that Musk was at the Pentagon last week.
What Himes seems most concerned with, outside of protecting birthright citizenship, is the possibility that Trump might ignore the rulings made by activist judges in the growing list of lawfare cases launched against the Administration.
"The other piece of this that really concerns me... is if the President just says 'I'm going to ignore those orders'," Himes said. "That is a constitutional crisis."
Himes seems especially terrified of Trump's "gravitational power" which yields "unanimous votes," so he believes the courts and public sentiment offer the only means to stop Trump.
Himes opened up the floor to questions, starting off with one about what would happen to Trump and those involved in "ignoring the order" about deporting the Tren de Aragua illegals that was issued by activist Judge James Boasberg.
He's the same judge who spared Russiagate lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, giving him just a year probation after he pleaded guilty to forgery in the 2016 Russia election interference case. Boasberg also lamented there weren't more harsh laws under which he could charge the J6-ers. And let's not forget about his conflicts of interest stemming from the activities of his wife, daughter and sister in the NGO sphere.
Ultimately, Himes concluded nothing would happen about the deportation flight because Congress wouldn't stand against Trump.
But later on in the Town Hall, he argued Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act was wrong.
"Tren de Aragua is not controlled by the Venezuelan government, and therefore the premise of the president's use of the Alien Enemies Act is false," claimed Himes, citing reports by the Intelligence Community -- the same Intelligence Community that promoted the Russia Collusion Hoax. The FBI doesn't fully agree with the rest of the Intelligence Community, though, and maintained the TdA gang does have a "connection to the administration of Venezuela’s authoritarian president, Nicolás Maduro."
This is the kind of hair-splitting Himes supports in order to keep violent criminals in the country, and to lay the predicate for another impeachment should the Democrats retake the House in 2026.
Himes lamented how the left's legislative tools "have been taken away" but said at least they still have the bully pulpit, courtesy of their friends in the [dying] mainstream media.
He caught a little flak over his vote to censure Congressman Al Green.
And one person picked up on the fact that democrats have lost tons of ground with young people, especially men, and seemed freaked out that democrat propaganda about climate change, reproductive rights and affordable housing is not "being heard" in red states.
Himes gaslit, misled and/or lied to the community over a number of issues, such as:
One woman expressed gratitude that Himes voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which she claimed had "nothing to do with protecting women and girls in sports and everything to do with a hatred, hateful culture war."
Perhaps she should meet some of the girls who got injured by trans players, like the girl who suffered a brain bleed after getting spiked in the face in a volleyball game, the girls who got injured in a basketball game or the girl whose teeth got knocked in field hockey?
Nonetheless, Himes was proud to vote against keeping women and girls safe in sports.
We ran into our friend and former US Congressional hopeful Bob MacGuffie, who has been challenging Himes and his lies in Town Halls for over a decade.
Bob challenged him on his fear-mongering opening statement, his votes for $25 trillion of debt and dollar destruction, and his lies about ObamaCare and the border before being blocked out by a trifecta of a Himes staffer, a frustrated Himes supporter, and security -- the elements Himes always hides behind to get through Town Halls.
The cat-calls from the angry crowd revealed their profound ignorance on these issues, e.g., "you don't live at the border." Bob responded with, "you need more history-booking and less face-booking!"
We even had an opportunity to ask a question on a topic of interest—illegal immigration—which creates a lot of problems in the state, even in Greenwich.
Like all the car accidents caused by unlicensed, uninsured, undocumented drivers... the South American Theft Gang home burglaries in Greenwich... the murder in Stamford tied to Tren de Aragua... the estimated $1.3B in tax money used to support illegals in CT... and the fact that democrats want to "strengthen" the TRUST Act in the 2025 legislative session.
Himes immediately balked at the $1.3B estimate to cover the cost of illegals in Connecticut.
"The fact that the idea that got got put out in right-wing circles that, uh, in Connecticut, we pay $1.4 billion dollars for illegal immigration is simply false. That is a lie," said Himes who misquoted the number and has no idea how much illegal immigration actually costs CT.
The organization that came up with the $1.3B estimate, FAIR, stands behind the analysis.
Himes continued to respond to the question about why Democrats don't seem to care about protecting the actual citizens of the state from crimes committed by illegals.
"Immigrants commit crimes. Illegal immigrants commit crimes. They commit crimes at a much lower rate than non-immigrant Americans," he said, ignoring the fact that illegal immigrants broke federal immigration law to come to the US in the first place.
"I have no problem, and federal law is currently that if you are here in the country illegal, you are deportable. If you're here in the country illegally, and you are, and you're convicted of a crime, you get sent out... I'm 120% in favor of deporting people who here are undocumented who commit a crime," said Himes, who voted against the Laken Riley Act.
Yet he supports the Trust Act which allows illegals convicted of Class C or Class D felonies to go right back into the community after completing their sentence, without providing any notification to ICE about their pending release.
Guess he's not 120% in favor of deporting those "undocumented who commit a crime" is he?
Himes gaslit us again when he denied that Connecticut government was using the Trust Act to "protect the undocumented" when the truth is they have been using the Trust Act "for protecting undocumented immigrants" for at least six years at this point!
"Just to clarify what is happening here in Connecticut. No, the governor nor the government here has said we will protect the undocumented. What they have said is that we will not use our local law enforcement and our state law enforcement to cooperate with federal law enforcement on deportations," said Himes to loud applause.
"And maybe they do that for ethical reasons, but they certainly do it because our local law enforcement and our state, uh, troopers are not trained the way CBP and ICE officers are trained, and so that's what they're saying," he continued.
Just to be clear, Himes wants you to believe that Connecticut law enforcement officers are trained on how to contact ICE if they are about to release an illegal convicted of a Class A or Class B felony after their sentence is served... but not trained on how to contact ICE if they are about to release an illegal convicted of a Class C or Class D felony.
And most people in the audience actually believed what he said.
