Greenwich First Selectperson candidate Laura Erickson just picked up an endorsement from Connecticut Attorney General William Tong.
Many Greenwich residents were shocked and disappointed to hear that Erickson had accepted an endorsement from a guy like Tong, especially after considering his recent actions in a highly-publicized lawsuit.
Tong demanded in a lawsuit brief filed on June 27, 2023, that a Connecticut mom must defer to school officials, and that her children must be socially transitioned against her and their father’s will, and even without their knowledge.
Most parents believe that no one, especially school officials, should ever have the right to secretly transition your children. It's just outrageous, and totally undermines parental rights. Not to mention it's risky, experimental and turns children into lifelong medical patients.
Does this mean that Erickson also believes the State should be allowed for force gender transitions on children without their parents' knowledge and/or consent? Why else would she accept an endorsement from Tong if she didn't align with him on the issues?
Previously, Erickson downplayed an incident at Sacred Heart, an all girls Catholic school in Greenwich, when a Planned Parenthood sticker was found on campus in 2018.
Erickson said, "It's just a sticker" but the issue is what that sticker represents.
Planned Parenthood is the second largest provider of transgender hormone therapy in the country, and has been offering “hormone treatments for transgender patients” since at least 2015, well before Erickson downplayed the sticker incident at Sacred Heart.
Planned Parenthood offers a full range of gender-affirming care, including the use puberty blockers, a highly controversial intervention also used to chemically sterilize sex offenders.
The Washington Free Beacon just reported on October 4, 2023, that a Planned Parenthood clinic in New Jersey gave a full course of cross-sex hormones to a teen who suffered from autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and impulse control issues—after a brief 30-minute consultation!
How in the world does a special needs child like this have the mental capacity to make such a serious decision regarding life-altering drugs?
Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood seems more than willing to ignore the science that shows these drugs pose serious, often irreversible and life-changing side effects which can worsen underlying mental health conditions that are so often present in trans teens. The FDA has not approved puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones for the treatment of gender dysphoria, either.
Does Erickson still support Planned Parenthood, knowing its focus has shifted to transitioning kids?
Does Erickson support Tong's position on secret gender transitions?
If not, then perhaps Erickson should consider rejecting Tong's endorsement and speaking out against the controversial gender-affirming services that Planned Parenthood targets to children.
Otherwise, people will naturally assume that Erickson believes secret gender transitions in school are a good thing, and that protecting parental rights is a bad thing!
