A couple dozen Greenwich Indivisibles and their friends lined Binney Park in Old Greenwich on Sunday, dressed in black while holding "signs of fascism" in a repeat protest of the Trump Administration.
The Indivisibles called the event "inspirational and well received," but the truth is most of the park-goers we interviewed rolled their eyes at what they described as a "sad and pathetic spectacle" put on by a bunch of "useful idiots for communism" who "use the word fascism so much its lost all meaning."
You could even hear people in passing cars shouting "communists" out of their windows -- which didn't bother at least one protester who responded, "well, yeah, so what?"

The truth is most of the people we interviewed in the park on Sunday were much more concerned about "King Ned the Unaccountable" and the Connecticut Democrats' outrageous 2026 legislative agenda than they were about anything the Trump Administration is doing.
With that in mind, here are just some of the 2026 legislative session highlights:
Affordable Housing/Zoning:H.B. 5507 would preempt municipal zoning authority regarding accessory dwelling units; H.B. 5502 would prioritize housing expansion in ways that could threaten the availability of strategically important industrial and economic development land; H.B. 5396 would permit affordable housing on church property; and S.B. 151 would move more zoning authority from towns to the state.
Climate Change: H.B. 5156 would create a fund requiring fossil fuel companies to pay for climate-related damages, potentially adding 33 cents per gallon to gasoline, diesel, and heating oil; also S.B. 453 would enact a surcharge on certain insurance policies for "fossil fuel related facilities that contribute to climate change"; S.J. 37 would change the state constitution to include a green amendment.
Elections: H.B. 5001 would provide absentee voting for all; H.B. 5342 is all about memes and AI "deepfakes" in the run-up to election day; and S.B. 298 (now Public Act 26-1) limits disclosure of election data (presumably to stop feds from using data to identify illegals) and enables ballot secrecy by exempting ballots from FOIA.
Gas Powered Leaf Blowers: S.B. 319 would prohibit the sale of gas-powered handheld and backpack leaf blowers in 2029, ban use statewide by 2030, and use the public benefits charge to subsidize compliance.
Gender Affirming Care & Abortions: S.B 295 would extend existing shield laws and H.B. 5516 would prohibit adverse actions against abortionists and providers "gender affirming care."
Homeschooling: H.B. 5468 would allow an equity-focused LGBTQIA+ advocacy group to judge homeschool curriculum and require DCF to review every student withdrawn from public schools.
Immigration / ICE: S.B. 91 would restrict ICE operations in "protected" areas and give the Inspector General authority to investigate/prosecute federal agents for violating state law; S.B. 397 would allow the AG to sue federal law enforcement for violating state law and enables other anti-ICE measures; H.B. 5505 would act as an end run around federal plans to retrofit commercial warehouses into immigration detention centers; H.B. 5449 would safeguard automated license plate reader data for illegals and people seeking gender-affirming care and abortions.
Labor Unions:S.B. 440 would provide unemployment for striking workers; S.B. 351 requires teacher termination hearings be held before an unelected arbitrator, removing power from local Boards of Education; S.B. 435 would regulate AI use in workplaces; and S.B. 438 would regulate self-check out machines.
Medical Freedom: H.B. 5044 would pave the way for adult vaccine mandates, transfer decision-making authority directly to a political appointee, and eliminate legislative oversight on changes to the vaccine schedule; S.B. 450 would additionally remove religious exemptions to vaccination.
Reallocation of State Funds: Emergency certification process was used to bypass legislative hearings and ram through the wide-ranging S.B. 298... described as the "definition" of corruption; Lamont signed but line-item vetoed several sections; he also signed S.B. 83 which created a slush fund to counteract federal cuts.
"Tax The Rich": H.B. 5133 would increase the highest marginal income tax rate from 6.99% to 7.99%; S.B. 104 would impose a surcharge on capital gains for taxpayers in the top income brackets; S.B. 101 would impose additional taxes on homes assessed above $3 million; and H.B. 5081 would impose a 4% surcharge on income over $1 million.
Guess the Indivisibles didn't realize how many of their signs can be used to describe their own party's agenda in Hartford, eh?
Or maybe some of them do realize it, and just can't bear to admit it?
And if this is how bad the 2026 democrat agenda is, imagine how much worse it will be in 2027 if Republicans don't start winning some elections in this state!

(You might add H.B 5533 and S.B 463 to the pig-pile)
I will reassert an observation that is not popular here or anywhere - we are getting exactly what we demand - security and the abdication of personal responsibility... a nanny State.
Not me, you say? Really? What conveniences shall you forego?
