Connecticut is getting roasted on social media after skipping the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C.
The statement we got from Lamont's office claimed the decision was about “resources,” so the state decided to “focus our energy on the many celebrations being planned across the state.”
No one is buying it.
Dan Haar — the TDS-afflicted Hearst journalist who argued against national unity after the assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler — even admitted politics played a role.
Of course it was political!
But then Haar went further, saying he “would have been happy” if Connecticut had staffed the booth around the new Safe Harbor Fund rolled out by Lamont, Treasurer Erick Russell, and others. The fund helps people from red states travel to Connecticut for “reproductive and gender-affirming care.”
Funny, since that’s exactly what The Connecticut Centinal sarcastically suggested days earlier in a snarky reply to Reese Hopkins' post about Connecticut skipping the state fair.
How odd that Haar would be happy to turn a national celebration of American achievement into a billboard for child mutilation and abortion tourism.
By the way, the state-backed, privately-supported Safe Harbor Fund apparently has no age restrictions.
While money goes to NGOs rather than directly to individuals, it can effectively cover travel and lodging for minors — including children under 18 — to obtain abortions in Connecticut without parental consent or notification.
Gender-confused minors could also access irreversible medical interventions with minimal oversight, just consent from a parent or caregiver.
Of all the things Connecticut could highlight — history, innovation, industry — Haar wants to celebrate the state’s role as a destination for abortions and transgender procedures for children.
But why stop at advertising Connecticut's abortion and gender-affirming care "tourism" fund which, by the way, just received a $25k donation from Leonard Litz?
Why not celebrate other "Connecticut values" like:
Heck, we even suggested to Reese, who will now be broadcasting live from the Connecticut state fair booth on July 3rd and 4th, that he should set up an interactive “ballot stuffing” exhibit so fairgoers from all across the country could experience "Connecticut values" firsthand.
Why keep all of that fun to ourselves?
