A Trumbull mathematics teacher at Madison Middle School started the school year with a “Student Information Form” that asks children for their pronouns.
The form, labeled “Mrs. Garcia – Mathematics” and obtained by the Centinal today through a Freedom of Information request, asks for student name, nickname, pronouns, class period, and allergies. Parent contact information comes after the gender ritual.
This is a math class. The first personal fact the teacher collected was not whether the child can multiply. It was how the child wants to be gendered.
Trumbull Superintendent Martin Semmel declined to comment on why a math teacher is asking middle school students for pronouns.
Trumbull parents have seen progressive ideology slip into the classroom before. In 2023 the district’s youth survey asked 7th- through 12th-graders whether they were male, female, transgender, or non-binary, and about sexual orientation. In February, Hillcrest Middle School assigned students to compare “immigration enforcement in the US today” with “the persecution of Jews in Germany in the 1930s.”
The form is not an isolated worksheet. It is how the ideology is installed before a child is old enough to understand what is being asked.
While Trumbull collects pronouns in eighth-grade math, Democratic leaders in Hartford are trying to restart the medical pipeline the Trump Justice Department just shut down.
On August 5, Connecticut Children’s agreed with the Justice Department to stop puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and so-called gender surgeries on patients under 18. The hospital also agreed to pay a penalty and set aside $500,000 in care for people living with the consequences of that treatment.
This week, Sen. Matt Lesser and Rep. Jillian Gilchrest — co-chairs of the Human Services Committee — called that settlement a “capitulation,” demanded internal correspondence and medical records by week’s end, and threatened a subpoena. They argued a Medicaid provider has a duty not to “discriminate,” as if refusing to chemically castrate children were a civil-rights violation.
That is the Connecticut model. The school asks middle schoolers for pronouns. The legislature leans on the hospital to keep the drugs flowing. Parents are the obstacle.
The Justice Department is no longer pretending this is compassion. On Tuesday, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon announced a first-of-its-kind lawsuit against Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools for secretly helping students “transition” at school — no consent, no notice to parents — and alleged violations of FERPA and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment.
If you think that hasn't happened in Connecticut, think again. Just look at the tragic case of the Syed family. Elvira Syed's daughter, Ilene, was socially-transitioned at Simsbury High School without parental knowledge or consent. Then a Hartford pastor and chaplain tied to Yale’s pediatric gender program saw Ilene once and filed a DCF complaint accusing Syed of “emotional abuse” and “in-home conversion therapy” because she would not affirm a new gender identity. Syed said that wedge cut her off from her daughter. In October 2024, police told her Ilene had been found dead in a college dorm after four days.
Connecticut has spent years building this exact same culture: surveys that map gender identity, teachers who collect pronouns as classroom data, and lawmakers who treat a federal settlement to stop experimental treatment on minors as an outrage.
